Well following on from injuries to Joonas and Jonas recently, Adam was taken to hospital tonight suffering from a reported back/spleen injury.
Best wishes to all three of them for full and speedy recoveries, but in the meantime Lakeside's title challenge has taken a right kick in the throat.
Will Cookie be venturing into the transfer market?

What a terrible week it's been for injuries. Best wishes to the 3 Hammers for speedy recoveries. I know Lakeside are our closest rivals, but we'd really like to go above them by being the better team on track not because of their nasty injury problems.

I know Lakeside are our closest rivals, but we'd really like to go above them by being the better team on track not because of their nasty injury problems. And that's exactly what sets the majority of your fans above the majority of other teams' fans. If we can't do it, I sincerely hope you do...........but would love to meet you in the final!!!

Can you imagine? Both venues would be packed out and the queues stretching the length of the A12! ;D

Really sorry to hear this news, I hope Adam is OK, and obviously Jonas and JK.
I honestly thought Lakeside had overcome their injury problems of old, hopefully all not as bad as feared.

From MD on the BSF: Adam crashed at Peterborough last night so to stop any speculation on his injury’s I think its best I tell you what I know.
Adam broke a rib that punctured his lung and has fractured some bones in his back but he is conscious and has movement in his toes so it seems all his injuries will heal given time. He is due an MRI scan this morning to check for anymore injuries.
When I get some more news I will keep you posted.
Things could be a lot worse though and for that we are truly grateful….
Get well soon Adam
Mark…Terrible news. Get well soon Adam.

Hi all Adam is doing well under the circumstances. He has broken one disk and fractured another in his lower back along with broken rib/s and a punctured lung that they are draining fluid from. They are checking him each and every hour to make sure he has movement in his toes and hands and so far the signs are good. They have told us that Adam will be in hospital for a few weeks then in a body cast for a further 3 months after that. His wife Karen is by his side and trust me, she shares the same fighting spirit that Adam does so he is being cared for in the best possible way. Adam has still not had a scan to check for any further injuries due to his blood pressure being low at the moment and when I get anymore news I will keep you all informed… If anybody wishes to send Adam a card then please send it to me and not the Hospital, a simple card does go a long way in helping riders when they are injured and does go a long way to keeping up spirits as they make plans for a full recovery.. Please send any cards to Adam Shields C/O 13 Vernon terrace Brighton East Sussex BN1 3JG Ecards to mark@adamshields.com Thank you all for you support and im sure we will see you trackside soon. Posted by Bratters on Panthers forum:
"Went to see Adam again today, had a trip all over PDH before finding out he had been moved to Edith Cavell, oh well, needed the exercise!!!
He is certainly a lot lot better than he was when I last visited him. I took him the Speedway Star so he could read about how he came to be where he is currently and that cheered him up. I think he will be in Edith Cavell for at least another week, when hopefully he will be allowed home.
He has assorted injuries, but ultimately he will be in a body cast for at least three months, a body cast sounds a lot worse than what it actually is, I found out today, also. "

www.peterboroughspeedway.net/index.php?name=News&file=article&sid=234Peterborough Speedway are very pleased to report that Lakeside’s Captain Adam Shields will be leaving Edith Cavell Hospital and returning home today. Adam who suffered serious injuries in an accident on the 21st August whilst riding at Peterborough has now been placed in a body cast, which will aid his recovery and allow him some movement. He was allowed to get up yesterday for the first time and although feeling a bit dizzy, was finally pleased to be able to move about. Unfortunately he isn’t able to travel sitting up but will travel flat on his back to prevent any further damage, so he will have to return home in an ambulance at moderate speeds which will obviously take a little longer than normal. Despite this Adam is in good spirits and is very pleased to be finally allowed home with the Doctors and Nurses at both Peterborough District & Edith Cavell Hospitals coming in for special thanks for looking after him so well. Peterborough Promoter Mick Bratley has been a regular visitor to Adam, and said: “I have visited Adam several times during his stay in hospital. It has been a very difficult time for him and those that are close to him. It is very pleasing that he will make a full recovery. I told him that this week he can buy his own copy of the Speedway Star, instead of having mine! I know Adam would like to thank the many regular visitors he has received and the cards and good wishes he has also got from our supporters. I am sure all Panthers fans will join me in wishing Adam all the very best on his continued road to full fitness.”
