COVENTRY Buildbase Bees have signed experienced German rider Robbie Kessler to replace Andreas Messing at reserve.
The 35-year-old has been out of action since leaving Mildenhall earlier in the season but is fully fit and keen to return to racing.
Messing has struggled in his first full Elite League season, and the Bees are hoping he can find a berth in the Premier League to regain his confidence.
Manager Peter Oakes said: "We've signed Robbie to come in at reserve for the rest of the season. He's got plenty of experience and he was doing quite well with Mildenhall until he had a fall-out with them.
"We spoke to him last week, asked him if he fancied it and he said yes straight away. We're not expecting double figures every meeting but I think he'll give us a little more at the bottom end.
"Andreas has had a fairly torrid time and it seemed to knock him back a lot when he was injured. It must be hard for a rider when he's not confident and not full of himself, so hopefully a move into the Premier League will work out for him."
Kessler will make his debut in the Knockout Cup semi-final second leg at Poole on Wednesday, and Bees are also waiting on the fitness of recent signing Filip Sitera, who has been for X-rays on a hand injury.

Well, Andreas should have gone, but I don't think Kessler will fare much better. Time will tell.

At least he should turn up - that's got to be an improvement. But with Messing out you were able to bring in Barker, who seemed to score much better than Andreas. However, with Sitera now seemingly injured it's the best move to make.

It was pretty obvious that Andreas had got the chop on Monday night when his name board had been removed from the Bees pits! He seems like a nice lad, I hope he gets himself sorted and bounces back to some sort of decent form, it just looked like his confidence was completely shot.
