Antonio Lindback was caught drink driving whilst in Sweden and has stated that he has quit speedway.
There's a thread in the International and Elite League sections on the BSF.

There's also one here in the Swedish League thread with a good translation of the article. I can move it to this section if you like?

1. I do not condone drink driving at all, I'm afraid it's a no no for me. 2. I don't particularly like Lindback the rider, as I don't know him personally can't say I don't like him (if you see what I mean ), at Foxhall he is appalling, usually going into or through the fence at least once. BUT: I think this is really sad, that he has quit. All the pressures, real or supposed, have so obviously weighed him down and perhaps this is exactly what he needs a wake up call and a breather to sort himself out. Someone suggested he needs to return to Poole...I would think that is the worst thing for him, the pressure of the fans alone, apart from the hairdresser, for him to perform instantly or you are out, is definitely what he doesn't need. We know that pressure is put on riders, especially in Poland, the suicides are proof of that, so perhaps drinking is not such a bad cry after all. In this year of such bad injuries, this is another siren, highlighting that these riders are actually human and perhaps need to cut back on commitments. For me, should he decide to ride again, I would think that Belle Vue would be an excellent team for him to affiliate himself with. The promotion alone is made up of experience and perhaps just having the one team for a season or two, who knows he might even enjoy himself and regain his obvious, if erratic, talent. OK off the soapbox now ;D

Drink driving laws:
In the UK, Ireland, Italy and Luxembourg, the limit is 0.8 mg/ml Sweden has the toughest rules, with a 0.2 mg/ml limit
Drink driving doesn't necessarily mean driving when drunk. Not that I condone it, just it might not be as it seems.

Sweden has the toughest rules, with a 0.2 mg/ml limit The Czech Republic is actually tougher with a theoretical 0 mg/ml limit, although seeing how there's almost always some residual alcohol in the body, there must be some latitude there. Drink driving doesn't necessarily mean driving when drunk. Yes quite, which is what the holier-than-thou and hang 'em high brigade on the BSF fail to comprehend. However, I suspect the fact that he's reported to have done a runner from the police, probably implies he was a fair bit over.

Will have to let the BBC know they were wrong. I'll tell them Kev says.

Apparently he did a runner from the Police and left his dog in the car. Went back for the dog 2 hours later and the Police were waiting for him.
Belle Vue put no pressure on Antonio this season. Our season was well finished before he joined so if any pressure was applied it certainly wasn't from Chris Morton and David Gordon.
I hope he sorts himself out and does return to the Aces. He was well looked after and was treated with respect. He stated on more than one occasion how he was enjoying it at Belle Vue and would like to make the move permanent.

A guy who posts on the Unofficial Aces site, from Sweden, also states that Antonio is around 150,000 SEK in debt with tax. That is roughly around £11,000 though I do stand to be corrected. No wonder his heads up his arse.
Oh, how we could have done with him at Swindon tonight. 21 points from 6 riders is appaling.

Most of Lindback's problems are self-inflicted. He had a cushy number at Poole - Middlo's arm around the shoulder when things weren't going right and the indulgence of the Poole supporters. But Lindback and his advisors decided to throw it all away. Poland was the place he needed to be, but he wasn't prepared for the culture shock. Avesta and Poole indulged him, the Poles didn't. He was neither scoring the points expected, or apparently listening to the advice of people at Czestochowa. Poland's high pressure and the demand is for results and GP stars are expected to score lots of points. It was also a huge error to compete in the GPs this season. He didn't deserve his nomination and shouldn't have taken it, just like Richardson last season. The result has been obvious for all to see - every fortnight he's been humiliated in the GPs and it's shattered his confidence. He ended up being dropped by the Lions and heading back to the UK with his tail between his legs - Belle Vue offered him a shot at redemption, which he largely spurned.

Rumour has it that Anton has not sold any of his racing equipment so, read into that what you will.
