If you looked at the programme GB were stuck and had a run of inside gates. So we were stuck, it was just a rough performance between heat 10-15 which led to that.
We just gave up....

And did everyone else think Vojens looked in decent shape? Certainly not the slickfest expected. Although, I suppose it will be different for tomorrow. I look forward to watching Aussie give Denmark a good go and Davidsson to continue his fine form. Jonas has been my man of the tournament so far.
Laguta is a gutsy rider - the exact opposite of Richardson. He knows where to stick the bike. Russians were so wild at times. Good to watch.

A bit disappointed Britain faded away after making a decent fist of things early on . I think we saw the early seeds of a sparkling international career for young Woffinden . I suspect Nicholls is on borrowed time as the nation's number 1 . In saying that Woffinden , Nicholls and Harris is a decent base for Britain to be competative at this level . Kennett still has to prove he has what it takes to make the jump to international speedway , while Richardson's time must surely now be over . Below the three i've already mentioned , we still need at least two more to step up to the plate . Roynon , Haines and possibly Tully could , but are at least two years away from being considered . Stead and Allen have reached the level of their ability and are not good enough . And the current team manager has no business trying to kid on he actually knows what he's doing - when it is apparent to anyone with even limited knowledge of speedway that he doesn't . But i was not totally disappointed about tonight , although neither Sweden or Poland will seriously threaten Denmark or Australia on Saturday . Saturday should be a shoo-in for the Danes , but i just hope the Aussies spoil the party . Would agree that the base of the team for the next few years needs to be Tai, Nicholls and Harris. We are the 5th best team in World Speedway, as was reflected tonight, and you've gotta hope that there is a couple of youngsters to make the breakthrough next year/the year after. What about Bridger? He hasn't had a sniff of the squad this year, not sure if he is in bad form or anything but he was the great white hope not so long back

My thoughts:
Negatives:
Result: It was completely expected, but still disappointing to see we just aren't competitive, and it doesn't look like getting much better.
Commentary: Sorry, Bryn, but last night both of them were a bit too "over the top" for my liking, and I'm sure even Nigel himself would admit that. It doesn't usually bother me, but I found myself unable to focus on the racing because of the distraction. However, it's not that relevant.
Positives:
Tai: I haven't seen enough of him to agree or disagree that he's a sensation, but on last night's performance, he did himself and his country proud - a joy to watch.
Team spirit: Looked much better, and like they actually wanted it this time around.
Racing: No-one ever agrees with me, but I thought it had everything last night - passing, close racing, hard fights and talking points. More of the same on Saturday, please.
Chris Harris: I've seen a few comments on the BSF that he was inconsistent, but there's just something I like about him, and there was a period in the middle where both Tai and Chris looked like they could have taken on anyone and beaten them.
Jonas Davidsson: I have to mention him, because he's the quiet hero - we're all focussed on GB or our individual favourites, but he deserves praise for his performance in both meetings.
Regarding Bridger, much as I like him, and think he would have added a lot of excitement, I don't think he's ready for the world stage. Kennett succumbed to the pressure last night, and Lewis still tries a little too hard in domestic performances, never mind when he has the hopes of the country pinned on him. A couple more years of calm and focus (and ditching his advisors) and I think he'll be there.

As I said in my earleir post he is over-rated and past his sell by date. Did you hear him last night talking about Olly Allen's performance on Monday - "he tried hard and gave it his best"..... Bloody cheek Snotty - he was a lot better than you. Has everyone failed to realise that Olly actually scored more than him on Monday night. And last night both Tai and Snotty got 9 - if Lynch had done the right thing and played the joker on Tai then he would have scored more than Nicholls for sure......why do people think he's so great? Tai 100% and Harris too. Bridger possibly.....what about Holder?

Don't get me wrong I'm no great fan of Nicholls and I think he's not the leader we need but I don't see enough youngsters coming through to replace him in the short-medium term. Also I didn't think Olly Allen did too bad the other night, about what was expected and I always forget that he is still young too so maybe he can make the extra step up (he seems to have been around a long time). Fair points about Bridger, hopefully he can become a top class rider in time (he's still got plenty of it) and would be another good addition to the sqaud.

As regards the commentary . I can usually switch myself off to it and don't really notice it , but there was an early race when the picture broke up and they lost the commentary for a lap or two - all you heard was the noise of the bikes and it was very pleasant . As far as team spirit is concerned - yes it was much better last night, but it's pretty evident there is a real problem with Nicholls and Harris . They don't even stand together between races , never mind talk to each other . The racing was pretty decent last night and augers well for the final .

The Australian Chris Holder who will be riding for Australia , his Australian brother James who rides for the IOW or the Slade lead singer Noddy who comes from Wolverhampton ?

For the record, I think people read way too much into the interviews. As with every sportsmen, on comes the mental script. It's rarity in Sport to have an interesting chap with something to say, it's even more rare in Speedway.
That track was the kind of standard I expect from any meeting. It's what should be ''average''.
Isn't foresight a great thing - Allen for Richardson would have been a wise move.
