The jungle drums say that the waste of time, space and a race jacket that is Antonio Lindback will be giving today's meeting between Peterborough and Belle Vue a miss. Will tomorrow evening find Lindback resting at home in Sweden, or will he be in Czestochowa in a desperate effort to patch up his differences with his Polish employers?

Given that they don't seem to be earning a fortune from riding in GPs, why is it that some of these riders choose to come into the EL late in the day, then don't actually perform?

Methinks Lindback maybe digging himself a very large hole.
British and Polish promoters won't touch him - he's very much Damaged Goods

He wasn't in Poland last night by all accounts. He should just call it a day for us (BV). Keep producing those sick notes, therefore we can use decent guests (apart from Havelock and Shields). at least our home matches will be more competitive.....and we might win one

Some explanation at any rate, from: www.bellevuespeedway.co.ukAntonio Lindback's injury woes appear to be plaguing the Belle Vue number one. But the Swedish star has promised to be back at Kirkmanshulme Lane on Monday ahead of the Elite League clash with Peterborough. He returned to the side in the defeat at Wolverhampton last Monday but the wrist he hurt in the World Cup match at Coventry last month swelled up again after the match. Lindback was forced to make a late withdrawal from Thursday's match at Peterborough which was subsequently postponed after a thunderstorm and he has stayed home in Sweden for further treatment. Team manager Eric Boocock said: "Antonio had to put the wrist in an ice pack straight after Monday's meeting and has been having further treatment at home." He added: "There was no chance of the meeting going ahead on Thursday, even though Peterborough were desperate to get the meeting on. "Our captain, Joe Screen, said it was too dangerous and Peterborough's skipper, Hans Andersen, said a rider of his experience could manage it but others could get hurt trying to race on it. Referee Tony Steele said his only concern was rider safety and agreed it should be postponed. The clubs are still discussing a new date for the match.

Toninho may as well have not bothered on Monday. Missed the gate in all his rides. His second ride his bike packed up, third ride came out on Stead's bike and was the only Aces rider to get near Bjerre and in his final ride came out on Skornicki's bike. Antonio stormed into the dressing room after heat 13 and left the stadium before the meeting finished. This was in frustation at his machinery problems.

In his first match at reserve Antonio scored 1+1. Touched the tapes in heat 2, went from 15 metres back and was looking real good until Mads Korneliussen high sided it chasing Adam Roynon. In the third rerun he looked like he could not be arsed. Fair distance between Roynon in second and Anton. Missed the gate completely in his second ride and was tailed off before pulling onto the centre green. In fairness you could tell it was not mechanical why he retired from the race. It was announced in heat 9 he had been withdrawn from the meeting on advice of the paramedics. It seems he aggravated an old hip injury.
Tough night for Anton!

His hip, I thought it was his wrist that he injured ? You see, this is my problem in a nutshell. One quote says an old hip injury, others think it's something else, and BV's website says it was a hip injury he picked up in the GP. If there was one line, and one line only, I might be more inclined to believe it. Also I don't want anyone thinking I'm jumping on the Antonio bandwagon (could be a bumpy ride and I expect I'd have to pull out shortly after starting, anyway) but a series of events has led to the final straw. I do think he showed potential, though he did start off a little leary, but he seems to be his own worst enemy when it comes to his career. I think he needs to sit back and seriously think about what he wants, maybe cut down on a few fixtures, and apply himself to it properly - it's worked wonders for Sullivan.

Aye, I think you are right lass (sorry Emmerdale is on telly!!), he has the talent and the ability to be successful imo, but like a lot of youngsters perhaps he thinks he knows better, listens to the wrong people maybe. As you say he needs to get fit again and take stock get his priorities right and all that. To me, it seems a shame for anyone to lose their way. fog

Sorry folks i'm just totally bored with the whole Lindback pantomime . I honestly can't understand why any promoter would give themselves the grief that accompanies having this waste of space in their team .

I honestly can't understand why any promoter would give themselves the grief that accompanies having this waste of space in their team . For Belle Vue it was gamble that didn't come off. We'd got rid of Fisher and Laukannen and needed someone of better ilk to help our already lost cause of a season. It didn't work but Belle Vue, allegedly, have first refusal on his services in 2008. If Lindback gets his new average, which should be around 4, and doesn't get a GP Gift Invitation, which I can't see, then BV should take the chance and sign him. Let him start the season at reserve and maybe, just maybe he could surprise us all. Don't tell Shovlar that though..........seems to think he's the only one who can Anton any credit.

Looked a lot better on Monday night. Made 2 great gates in his 4 rides and was comfortably in front. Bit of a blip in his second ride when he was off the piss poor gate 3 but he should have passed Chris Kerr.
Saved his best until last for heat 14. Watt on a t/r gated and Skornicki went round the outside of him. Anton cut back on the inside and the pair of Aces went either side of him and roared off for a 5-1. Anton and Sqora finished that race half a lap ahead of Watt and Woodward.
