The Aces have a 5 point lead to defend so they are going to all have to ride out of their skins to even think about progressing to the next round. They've got to do this without Jason Crump too who, through some cock up by the BSPA, will be replaced by Piotr Swiderski.
Looks like Janniro won't be riding for the Bees on Friday either and Messing probably won't turn up again.
Teams should look like this (but will probably change come Friday):
Bees
1. Harris 2. Allen 3. Schlein 4. Janniro R/R 5. Stead 6. Burza 7. Barker
Aces
1. Swiderski (G) 2. Jankowski R/R 3. Gjedde 4. Forsberg 5. Screen 6. Simmons 7. Raun
I fully expect us to get thumped at Brandon on Friday. I'll be chuffed to bits if we manage to score 35 points.

Out of interest, is there a single team who will contest the KO Cup with their full line-up?

So the Brandon fixture tonight and teams are confirmed as:
Coventry:
1..Chris Harris 2..Olly Allen 3..Rory Schlein 4..R/R 5..Simon Stead 6..Stan Burza 7..Ben Barker
Belle Vue:
1..Piotr Swiderski (guest) 2..Billy Forsberg 3..Charlie Gjedde 4..R/R 5..Joe Screen 6..Nick Simmons 7..Jonas Raun
And from Coventry's website:
Andreas Messing is once again ruled out having suffered further problems with his leg in his three outings in Sweden on Tuesday, and club No.8 Ben Barker steps in.
Co-promoter Colin Pratt said: "Andreas aggravated the injury again, it flared up after each ride and the doctors had to give him double the amount of antibiotics that he had been on before.
"We obviously don't want to be tracking a rider who isn't fit, and I've told him that we feel he shouldn't be riding at all until he has healed. Of course, speedway riders do want to ride whenever they think they can."
I'm saying nothing.

Coventry aren't breaking a single rule here - Ben Barker as No. 8 can ride for them anytime replacing any rider for any reason. That's the whole point of the No. 8. And it gives Ben invaluable top flight experience. But I'm still not too happy with the absent rider. He should stop Messing British Speedway about.

Coventry go through on aggregate, but Chris Harris and Joe Screen withdrew from the meeting. Worrying times for injuries. Tonight's score 56:37 - aggregate 100-86.

Hi Schumi........
Not that it makes the slightest bit of difference but Aces used R/R at 2 instead of 4. God only knows why and he was riding for Wroclaw tonight.
Well done and a big thank you to Swidders. Big boots to fill but he did the job...pity his one night only team mates weren't up to the task.
From the Updates Site (where I did the updating):
Coventry = 56 (100)
1. Chris Harris - 2 FX 3 =5 WITHDRAWN 2. Oliver Allen - 1' 3 3 2' 3 = 12+2 3. Rory Schlein - 3 1' 3 2 1 = 10+1 4. Billy Janniro R/R - BB, SB, SS, OA 5. Simon Stead - 3 3 2' 1' 3 3 = 15+3 6. Stanislaw Burza - 1 2 0 2 2' 2' = 9+2 7. Ben Barker - 3 1 EF 0 1' = 5+1
Belle Vue = 37 (86)
1. Piotr Swiderski (G) - 3 3 6! 1 2 = 15 2. Lukasz Jankowski R/R - JR, JR, BF, NS 3. Charlie Gjedde - 2 2 1 3 0 = 8 4. Billy Forsberg - 0 1' 2 0 1 X = 4+1 5. Joe Screen - 2 1' = 3+1 WITHDRAWN 6. Nick Simmons - 2 2 1 0 0 = 5 7. Jonas Raun - 0 FX 1' 0 1' 0 0 = 2+2
Heat Results
Heat 01: Swiderski, Harris, Allen, Raun. 3-3 59.6 Swiderski got the drop on Allen from gate 4. Olly looked quicker for the first 2 laps but couldn't sneak through. Harris eventually passed Allen.
Heat 02: Barker, Simmons, Burza, Raun (Fell, Excluded) (4-2) 7-5 Raun fell on bend 2 on his own and is excluded. Bees were on a 5-1 at the time. In the rerun Barker wins by a mile. Burza was a clear second when his bike gave up but he got it home.
Heat 03: Schlein, Gjedde, Barker, Forsberg. (4-2) 11-7 59.4 Barker dived inside Forsberg on lap 1 and looked comfortable in third. Texter thinks Charlies baggy kevlars must be slowing him down.
Heat 04: Stead, Screen, Raun, Barker (Engine Failure). (3-3) 14-10 59.1 Bees on a 5-1 with Barker looking good in second until he packed up on third lap.
Heat 05: Swiderski, Burza, Schlein, Raun. (3-3) 17-13 59.7 Rory second out of the gate but picked up same grip as Raun in heat 2 and almost took Burza out.
Heat 06: Allen, Simmons, Screen, Harris (Fell, Excluded). (3-3) 20-16 59.1 Harris fell after hitting the awful bit of grip on bends 1 and 2. Screen then hit Harris's bike and Harris and had a big fall himself. Both Chris and Joe are up and ok. Harris excluded. In the rerun Screen was second when his bike went but he managed to crawl home. Riders still struggling with first bend.
Heat 07: Stead, Gjedde, Forsberg, Burza. (3-3) 23-19 Stan produced a superb first bend to get the 5-1 with Stead but got picked off with ease as his bike appeared to have no power.
Heat 08: Allen, Forsberg, Raun, Barker. (3-3) 26-22 59.9 Bees gated on a 5-1 but Barker got out of shape and cocked it up. Seems he's getting abuse (text doesn't say who from) but god knows why.
Heat 09: Schlein, Stead, Simmons, Raun. (5-1) 31-23 Easiest 5-1 ever.
Heat 10: Harris, Allen, Gjedde, Forsberg. (5-1) 36-24 58.5 Walk in the park for the Bees. Forsberg fell first bend and Gjedde just not at the races.
*****INTERVAL*****
Heat 11: SWIDERSKI, Burza, Stead, Simmons. (3-6) 39-30 59.2 From the gate. Swiderski must have a rocket up his backside.
Heat 12: Gjedde, Schlein, Barker, Simmons. (3-3) 42-33 59.8 From the gate to continue the borefest.
Heat 13: Stead, Burza, Swiderski, Raun. (5-1) 47-34 60.6 Burza puts the Swiderski rocket out with a great ride.
Heat 14: Allen, Burza, Forsberg, Gjedde. (5-1) 52-35 61.0 Gjedde couldn't even pass Forsberg.
Heat 15: Stead, Swiderski, Schlein, Forsberg (Excluded, 2 Minutes). (4-2) 56-37 60.3 Line Up: Stead Schlein Forsberg Swiderski Forsberg goes straight through the tapes and has to go off 15m. Forsberg excluded under 2 minutes so only Swiderski in this one for The Aces. In the rerun fantastic ride from Stead, text book to hold off Swiderski. Looked like the old school Stead.

Ben Barker as No. 8 can ride for them anytime replacing any rider for any reason. Are you absolutely sure about that Genghis? I think you'll find a #8 can only replace an injured reserve.

Yes, Genghis is correct. You need to check your copy of the rulebook. EDIT: Kind Genghis has now done it for you. 18.1.5.1 If no facility is applicable then provided it conforms additionally to SR 18.3; a) In the EL, that Teams #8, or a PL Rider, both with a PL CMA of 6.00 or less and in conformity to SR 18.3.
And the revelant part from 18.3: * A Guest or #8 assumes the position and CMA of the Replaced Rider. In other words, as I said, the No. 8 can be used at any time for any rider for any reason.

Thanks for that Genghis, and I stand corrected. Is your interpretation of this rule that it's permissable for a rider in a teams' declared 1-7 to be rested, and their number eight to replace him, regardless of the reason for resting the 1-7 rider?
