My report copied directly from the Somerset Rebels Forum:
Well that was another good nights entertainment IMO - Najjer went home a very happy man! Perfect weather, perfect track, perfect food, perfect fans and the perfect team providing the perfect result! The track was prepared very well (the norm for the OTA) and produced a great racenight throughout the whole night, with there being chances to pass on the inside demonstrated by 'The Genius' - Matthias Kroger. And passing on the outside shown of by 'The King' - Emil Kramer, in heat 12 as he stalked Anders Andersen for the whole 4 laps before swooping around him on the last very bend. So credit must go to the trackstaff for providing us with a great racetrack.
Matthias was just brilliant tonight. How he finds the space on the track, and the drive he does it's just quite incredible. Fair play to Matten as he isn't one to back down and pull out, he keeps it wound right on and attacks the track and reaps the rewards from it. It's great to see Matten get his first maximum in British Speedway, and lets hope it's not his last as I believe Matten will have a big role to play in leading the Rebels to success. Heat 5 was sensational how Matthias caught up with Lee Dicken who was on a 5-1 with Craig Watson, and was side by side (somehow!!! ;d) with Lee down the straights. Before winding it on and nipping up the inside of both the Tigers pair for a shared heat - Don't think we have ever seen that at Somerset before, not something like that in such circumstances. I must also give alot of praise tonight to our no.1 - Jason Doyle. When Doyley hit the tapes and then got taken out of the race it was obvious to see he was far from happy, and to be honest any number 1 in the league wouldn't be, or any rider come to think of it. However, the thing that impressed me most was Doyley's reaction on track. WOW is all I can say, it was brilliant. Heat 10 he was miles ahead and produced the fasted time of the night. Heat 13 when Jordan and Wato were battling side by side.. and Doyley just breezed passed both of them. The same in heat 15 how he rounded Wato - It was just brilliant from Doyley who well and truelly sent a message out to everyone across the whole Premier League
For the Almighty Rebels...
Doyley - As mentioned above, well impressed with Doyley who reacted greatly to being excluded in one of his rides. True character shown by a top rider in the league. You just got that sense of 'fight' and determination in him from that point on - I wouldn't fancy many people getting near him if he continues to ride at that level.
Katty - Right in the thick of it tonight and making great starts, and right out on the outside to pass people too. Gutted for him also that he didn't manage to complete his maximum, but never the less a great score from the Kattman.
The King - Not a vintage performance from Emil, but did appear to be struggling with engine trouble somewhat. However, nothing can take away that fine win over Andersen in heat 12 passing him in true Emil fashion - Who ever said Emil can't pass?
Matthias - As mentioned earlier also in my 'little' report, Matthias was quite sensational tonight. Yes he got lucky perhaps in heat 15 with Wato falling, but all good speedway riders need good luck and Matthias' maximum was well and truly deserved.
Frampton - As per normal, went about his business fairly quietly and just got on with the job in hand. Continues to impress though, with his lunges up the inside sort of similar to Matthias' it is always entertaining. On another note, it shows what a great balence to the team we have in having Jordan/Matten the white line riders and Simon/Katty out on the high line, and Emil/Brent/Doyley taking whatever line takes their fancy!
Simon - As I posted last Sunday, was surprised not to see Simon riding in Poland - Simon seemed 'dejected' on the mic tonight, but yet another brilliant Oak Tree performance put him in high spirits by the end of the night. Gave to grief in heat 11 after making a good start and was on a 5-1 with Jordan before widing wide coming out of the 2nd bend and locking up, allowing Wato and Dicken through. Simon just seemed to be caught out trying too hard. Great captains performance again though.
Brent - Certainly battled hard again tonight, and you can't really complain aslong as someone gives their all to the team and tries to put on a show for the crowd. Brent does that, and as I have posted many a time this season, whilst his scores at home won't set the world alight, his scores away from home are invaluable to this team if we are to be successful.
I will admit, I thought we would well and truely walk all over Glasgow tonight. Admittedly the score seems to show that we did, but it wasn't all like that. I must say I was impressed by Glasgow tonight and there should be plenty of promise to be taken from this performance. I was really impressed by the end of the meeting by Aussie Mitchell Davey. Paulco told me he has been way of the pace pretty much this season, but he impressed me tonight. Robert Ksiezak was good value for his 8 points also. Once Shane Parker is back, I fancy he would score more points than Wato did tonight, and we will never know what Josh Grajwhatshisface would of scored tonight but I fancy he would of scored more than Bargh did - a big fat zero. Once Trent sorts himself out, he started poorly, got going and then ended poorly too. Andersen will take a while to settle in but he can gate for sure - so fair play to the Tigers who can take alot of credit away from this meeting as they really made the Rebels work for every point, and didn't roll over for us to take a win - The scoreline doesn't reflect the meeting what so ever
On the subject of the Glasgow Tigers, good to meet Paulco from the travelling Glasgow Tigers fans Nice to meet you and hopefully see you at the Pairs in a couple of weeks
Now onto the Food report - Opted for the usual Chilli and Chips, seemed alot more ermm.. ermm.. what's the word.. very HOT! Still tasty though, although I can also recommend the cheese burgers are very good for washing the taste of chilli down That cheese burger I had was lovely, and now leaves me with a difficult choice ahead of next week.. Chilli + Chips or the Burger.... More than likely I'll opt for both like I did tonight
So that's it for league racing for 3 weeks at least. I think the lineup next week looks brilliant. People normally think you need the best riders for great racing, but IMO you need the most exciting riders - which we aren't far of next week. You know what you will get from the 5 Rebels, Woffinden will be superb as ever, Gathercole is always entertaining, the young Swede Eklof should be good to watch plus others like Jack Roberts who impressed earlier in the year, the inform Joe Haines, Amrican showman Shaun Harmatiuk plus from what I've read Kozza Smith is a real showman, plus alot more entertainment
Right, this has gone on long enough now I fancy. Time to round up. Once again, a big well done the Rebels and to the Tigers on putting on a great show IMO - See everyone next Friday at the 'Exmoor Chase'.. Should be another cracker
very.. very... VERY... PROUD TO BE A REBEL! Mwhahaha.. Wipeout.. ;d
