Another fearful hammering for the Aces last evening, this time against the Coventry Bees. It's been a dreadful season for the grand old lady of British speedway. But is this the worst ever Belle Vue side?

Not sure if this will make it any better or not: ACES SCOOP SUPERSTAR LINDBACK THE RIO ROCKET BELLE Vue have made the scoop signing of mercurial Swedish Grand Prix rider Antonio Lindback in a bold move to kick-start their struggling season. The 22-year-old Brazil-born star, known as the Rio Rocket, agreed a deal on Tuesday after talks with Aces' promoters David Gordon and Chris Morton in Stockholm. The Aces, sponsored by Channel M, have been chasing World No 10 Lindback for several weeks. He will make his debut in the home Elite League match against Arena Essex next Monday after riding in Saturday's Danish Grand Prix in Copenhagen. Lindback will replace Finnish rider Kaj Laukkanen who been axed after a torrid time this season. Full story on www.belle-vue-speedway.co.uk

If Lindback rides like he did tonight, i can see him scoring a good 5 or 6 for BV each meeting ;D.
But ill admit he did well tonight, apart from falling off in the semi like an idiot

Sure, this is a bad season but in 36 years of following the Aces I've known plenty of good times and bad. In my view, the end of the Perrin era was the worst, and at least Mort is one man I'd trust with the legacy of the mighty Ace of Clubs... providing he can get through this year, EL survives to see 2008 and there are enough riders around to form a decent team. He really must build a racing circuit though, we can't go on with a motorway around Kirky Lane... As for Mr Lindback, all assistance is welcomed but it's only an interim step. A real win:win for rider and club, but won't see us beyond the next close season. I'm looking further ahead...

not sure about "the worst" but surely the most under achieving.

Do you know, it’s possible that Antonio Lindback may be officially weird. He showed a bit of promise early on at Cardiff, then scores two points at Lakeside tonight – the same amount as reserve Ricky Kling, and half what Tomicek scored. I bet Belle Vue aren’t at all happy with that performance.

No, he's not. Lindback's just a rider who got too big for his boots - started to run before he could really walk and is paying the price. He needs to get out of the GPs. Like Richardson last year, his confidence must take a severe beating when a GP comes around. And he's a confidence rider. Plus, of course, this season he's entered the harsh world of Polish speedway - the team mangers in Poland just aren't as tolerant of his erratic performances the way Middlo was. And neither are the fans as tolerant as his adoring public at Poole. Always said Lindback's career could go either way. At the minute, it's not looking good.

Nine last places in ten GP races at the ultimate speedway venue.
That's all I need to know about Lindback!

Didn't he also manage what Mateusz calls the "Olympic Set" at Wroclaw earlier this season - he just doesn't seem to like the tracks of Poland.

;D He did indeed collect his 5 Olympic Rings at Wroclaw as well. I had actually forgotten about that one as I spent most of that meeting drinking beer outside the stadium with Rico, Mateusz, The Doctor and Tommy... However, when added to his four lasts at the GP there last year, he actually has a worse record there than at Bydgoszcz.... Can you remind me why any Polish team even bothered signing him?

Temporary insanity? They listened to Steve Shovlar? I notice he hasn't featured for Czestochowa in the last couple of Ekstraliga rounds: has their patience finally been exhausted? Didn't they sign him on a two year contract? The guy has talent, that's true, but he seems to be spectacularly poorly advised.

The guy has talent, that's true, but he seems to be spectacularly poorly advised. That I would certainly agree with. He is a young guy trying to make himself a regular in the GP series and yet he misses out the UK this year and so consequently starts his season with just the odd match before the first GP....insanity! Even PePe knew better than to do that!!!! (or did AL watch PePe last year and decide the UK was a waste of time?)

hmm slightly off topic but why have Poole last 2 future stars (Lindback and Kennett) not been able to ride the Coventry track.
