How can it be possible that Glasgow were allowed to operate R/R for Anders Andersen tonight, when the guy has not yet turned a wheel in their colours?

It's a new rule that was hastily introduced after Craig Branney injured himself at Telford pre-season. Basically, at the time, Workington wouldn't have had a facility to cover Branney, so the BSPA in their infinite wisdom decided that if a rider is in a team's declared and validated 1-7 and is missing for a justifiable reason (injury, international duty, etc) a facility is available. As it happened, Workington signed Scott Smith to replace Branney, so the change wasn't really necessary. But Glasgow used it when Mrs Brady was injured skiing pre-season. Now, Berwick were not allowed to use a facility when Manuel Hauzinger was injured ahead of making his debut for the Bandits. But Hauzinger was injured after he was declared, but before the Berwick 1-7 including him was validated by the BSPA.

It was just an unfortunate set of circumstances ( i.e. british weather ) which meant Anders couldn't make his debut . Poor bloke was sat at the tapes like billy no mates , as everybody else had cried enough . Would have been harsh beyond belief had we not been granted the r/r facility for Anders on this ocassion . What happens next week with our other new signing , Rune Holta , i'm not sure .

Kev H - however, he did sign in and was all ready to race at last Sunday's meeting - surely that's good enough. Give the wee Tigers a break - as it stands this afternoon's clash with Workington looks well balanced - I reckon with Joe Haines injured, the Tigers could snatch it. Just got my fingers crossed that the rain stays off until 6.00pm - it's been a bit overcast this morning, but no sign yet of the wet stuff.
