(This Post has been copied over exactly as it was on the Somerset Forum, and I can't be bothered to edit it about so it makes sense to alot of you! ;d)
Well that was one hell of a meeting - I think Somerset really did show their true grit and determination to dig that result out. I say dig, but we wasn't ever in danger of losing. I predicted a 55-38 win so I wasn't too far out, I think 14 points will be plenty to go to Smallmead and take the Cup win. (Here's hoping anyhow!)
Right on the main things.. food. Chilli and Chips was great as ever, if not better than last week. Thoroughully recommended by myself and 'my chilli partner' Lional aka JonnyReb ;d Although I think I might be regretting the decision to go back for seconds later on in the meeting.. Seemed like a good idea at the time
Anyway.. back to the on track action. As expected, the track was quite slick tonight and not an awlful lot of dirt to go out and pick up some grip. This was of course due to the huge amounts of rain we had Thursday and the threat of rain tonight, and had we watered the track and with a band of rain on it's way.. It would of only resulted in meeting off. So no need to take a silly risk like that. Very much the same situation as the home meeting to Birmingham. (Why isit the blasted rain always seems to come on a friday?) Emil didn't seem to prosper out in the slick conditions and went searching for some added grip out on the highline only to end up with a face full of dust!
Some people have been complaining of late at the lack of racing though at the Oak Tree Arena.. or some peoples words to be 'crap racing'. I find the utter rubbish - There was some great races tonight and real excitement. Simon mentioned it in his interview, a typical cup tie. Walker beating Lemo whilst on the tactical and Lemo having to go on the defensive on the fast charging Jordan Frampton.. if someone tells me that wasn't exciting to watch, then.. Say no more! ;d
So.. For the Rebels..
Doyley - I think this was one of Doyley's best performances in a Rebels racesuit. Boy was he determined or what? What a great ride to 'slow down' and keep Madsen out to get the 5-1 with the Kattman. Shown that Osterich fellow a clean set of heels too
Katty - Didn't seem totally upto the pace tonight, I would imagine that was due to the lack of grip outwide. Usually had to stick to the inside was somewhat hampered his performance, but still managed a creditable 7 points.
The King - Someone said to me tonight "Even Kings aren't great all the time" - But our King is As mentioned earlier his usual line wasn't one to ride tonight with it being so slick, but this is one thing that has changed with Emil since he joined us in 2006. He won't give up, he doesn't know when he's beat - Watch Emil score plenty at Mildenhall Sunday.. then we shall all say - "ALL HAIL KING KRAMER!"
Matten - After two very tentative starts from Matthias, he dug in to score a point on a pretty poor bike. Switched over and what a difference that made. Looked brilliant out alongside Simon torelininquish stop the effect of the double point rider from that Osterish man again.
Jordan - Had a quiet night tonight but was always there plugging away and battling. When he lost out to Lemo and Madsen, he was never too far of their backwheels. Good performance again from Jordan.
Simon - He's such a joy to watch at the Oak Tree. What a pressure ride that was with Lemo out on the Tactical, that could of swayed this meeting, and the whole cup tie if Lemo pulled that of. What better man to stop him.. than your captain - Great performance again from Si-Co, now all we need is half of that away
Brent - Brent had it all sussed out last week didn't he? Out in dirt, loving it. I doubt he could believe his eyes tonight. He's certainly getting there though is Brent and when the dirt is back down Brent will be scoring highly. He was always looking to get wide tonight but just couldn't get the drive he needed, the drive he was picking up last week. Something that does please me is when you see him out after a meeting when he hasn't scored so well.. that to me shows he is determined to do well for himself, his team mates and Somerset Speedway as a whole
Well that is my 'weekly' report over until this time next Friday! Time to start the 'One to Watch' piece tomorrow for you all to enjoy next Friday - I really do hope you appreciate my efforts I am doing for the team in becoming they're 8th man.. and damaging any hope the away side have of winning! The curse is getting even stronger I can assure you, Mr Suchanek didn't even manage to complete the parade lap before having his hopes of a Reading win go up in smoke.. quite literally ;d Matt Ford has already been in contact with me, he wants me to help Poole win the Elite League title - But I had to turn him down and my next task is to whittle down the Diamonds chances of a win next Friday.
I think he might need me after tonight at Lakeside. What happened to Magnus? Scoring a big fat zero, very unlike him, especially from down in the reserve berth. I really hope that Magnus accepts his invite into the Exmoor Chase Individual - Zorro, Doyle, Woffinden, Kramer.. now that does have the makings of something special
So onto Mildenhall Sunday - I think there is a good lot of us heading up there. I have been reassured tonight that the food is brilliant at 'The Red Lodge Cafe'.. I don't know what I'm looking forward to more - That or the Speedway..? See all of you whose going there, and watch the almight Rebels get another win on the road! (Although I wouldn't get your hopes up, because I'm going.. and we all know what that normally means!) For the rest of you.. See you next Friday
PROUD TO BE A REBEL
"ALL HAIL, THE KING KRAMER!" ;d
For your imformation also, the second leg is at Reading on Sunday 29th of June.. which is the afternoon after the British GP. What a weekend of Speedway that will be - The Pairs, GP, and then Rebels march into the Semi Finals
