Img make money so what ? to me there doing a good job much better than the bspa would do god help us if that had to run That's not the point. They're a private company using the subsidised assets of others to make profits for themselves without returning any portion to speedway. I don't blame IMG for that, but I do blame the national speedway leagues for allowing it to happen without ensuring they got a cut. This said, I still think IMG will end-up being dissatisfied with the profitability of the SGP. I think Postlethwaite knew it had started to experience diminishing returns, which is why he sold out. Quite simple the bspa pzm and svemo would not all be singing off the same song sheet to many indians. Just demonstrates their short-sightedness then. They could have appointed a Postlethwaite-like figure to run the SGP for them, but ensured any profits accrued back to themselves.

From The Argus:
Former Eastbourne Eagles boss Jon Cook has been told to stop criticising the Grand Prix series.
Cook, who lives in Shoreham, slammed the GP circuit in a recent match programe at his current club Lakeside.
His comments, in which he claimed GPs would kill British league speedway, were also leaked to The Argus.
Now the British Speedway Promoters Association have told Cook further such criticism would be inappropriate.
Cook said: “I have been censored by the chairman of the BSPA. I have been told my comments, although true, were not in the best interests of British speedway’s relationship with GPs.
“It's a bit Draconian. They are my programme notes and I was expressing an opinion and trying to protect British speedway.”
Cook and Eagles counterpart Bob Dugard were at a meeting of Elite League promoters in Rugby today invigorated by a highly entertaining tussle between their sides at Arlington on Saturday, watched by an enthralled crowd which looked to be nudging the 1,800 mark.
The Hammers boss, who had 14 years in charge at Eastbourne, said: “That was everything that I'm about. I'm only interested in league racing.
“It is my bread and butter as well as being what motivates the majority of speedway supporters.
“We had good match at home to Ipswich on Friday with a good crowd, then Saturday looked to be one of Eastbourne's best crowds.
“It proves all we need is break in the weather and two well matched teams to bring the crowds in.”
Cook said seven clubs, including Eastbourne, backed his criticism of the current GP set-up.
Key points up for discussion are likely to be the financial state of the league, whether to reduce the number of fixtures and the relationship with the GPs.
Cook added: “The league is not in turmoil. The promoters are quite a canny bunch and the debt in this league is miniscule compared to most other professional sports of its kind.”

He might come across as a bit of a dumb arse on TV but credit to Cookie, he seems right on the button with those comments.
About time more British promoters started to step away from the "old boys club" way of running the sport and telling it how it really is.

Respect levels for Jon Cook are at an all time high. Just had his wrists slapped by the BSPA and still printing controversial comments. When he's speaking the truth, they don't like it, but they don't seem able to gag him. Good on you, Cookie.
If anyone has his programme notes from tonight and fancies typing them up I'm sure we'd all appreciate it.
