Bollocks. You go back to the 1930s/1940s/1950s Speedway News, and it's still "meetings/matches/riding" not fucking "playing". It's "can we ride you every week" or nothing. genghis dear chap,i recently spent a 12 month period where i travelled to the british newspaper library in colindale every monday, for a full days research. i have read every speedway magazine, every news of the world, every south london press and many other papers and journals from 1928 up to 1950,and it would be true to say 'played' was in the early days used far more often than 'ridden' my advise would be stick to pollution. The South London Press obviously didn't know what it was talking about. Refer back to the SPEEDWAY press and it's rode/meetings etc.

Decent meeting with Harris involved in a few ding dong's. Heat 15 was cracking and his battle with Holder earlier superb. Zabik just seems to have all confidence knock out of him and I don't think his pairing with Pedersen is perfect harmony. Personally, I felt Lynch dropped the ball in terms of when he selected Eriksson and when he didn't. Holder is simply awesome, Eriksson efficient and Burza, almost un-noticed kept himself out of trouble.
And I was the chap whose Red Corsa had it's headlights on meaning I missed Heat 2 - I made a swift exit after Heat 15 to make sure the battery was gine.

"when clapton PLAY their postponed match here" "palace may make history by PLAYING three matches in one day. do you want me to go on? by the way the great man scored a 10 point paid max

Poole have got two thirds of their Poles back. And probably wish they hadn't - Zabik and Suchecki failed to trouble the score as Coventry narrowly edged the win (48:45). And it isn't as if they were given enough opportunities to score - they had nine rides between them. For Coventry the hero and top scorer was, somewhat surprisingly, Stanislaw Burza, who scored 10+1 from 5 rides. A super effort from the ex-Bandit. Messing and Stead remain concerns - Stead only managed 5 from 4. For Poole everyone except for their Poles scored reasonably, but the star was Bjarne Pedersen who claimed an 18 point maximum. I'm not concerned about Messing, he's looking so much sharper Sub...much more on the pace. He wasn't helped last night was he? He was side swiped by Zabik, who tried to go for a gap that wasn't there ... Some great heats last night, I really enjoyed the meeting.. All credit to Rory for riding whilst injured, not brilliant last night, but wouldn't have expected too much considering. Simon Stead had a bad night, I feel sorry for him tbh, he needs to sort himself out though..if it's possible What about our Stan...bloody brilliant, the Bees top scorer Didn't stay for the second half or for a drink .. went home to defrost...my god, it was cold last night.

Only one concern from last night really & you all know who that is. Andreas is looking alot sharper on that new engine, he's getting there. Billy,ok last night but we love 'im even if he get's 0. Olly, another good performance. Rory, came through his injury quite well. Chris, brilliant in 6, the other side of the coin in 15, but a great race. ........and Stan, what a superstar. Now who have i missed, hmmmmmm?.
For Poole Bjarne, top draw. Noddy, superb 1st meeting at Brandon. Davey, showed his liking of the track once again. Freddie, did ok but Lynch should've used him more wisely Zombik, what a joke, luckily Andreas isn't too bad & Heat 14 he had me guffawing. Suchecki, should do better than that.

Suchecki, should do better than that. Sadly that is our Zibi, amazing for a short while, and then absolutely dire. Trouble is he does have several crashes, which knock his confidence big time, and I'm afraid that then means he seems unable to compete over here. Having said that I suspect he will fair much better in Sweden and Poland, possibly the tracks much more suited to his style. Anyway I suspect Poole will offload him soon, which is a shame, however we persevered with him last year, and it made no difference.

Now who have i missed, hmmmmmm?. The erractic Unsteady, by the looks of it. I see that some people, on another place, are bringing out that old favourite about Stead being young and needing guidance - why do some people seem to believe Stead is permanently 18-19-years-old? He'll be 26-years-old this coming week. In speedway terms, I don't regard that as young.
