I'll be surprised if Glasgow don't win this. Merlin may well be surprised now, but I'm not. Yes, sadly for paulco, the heathen Tigers did lose and rather heavily at that (40:52). For Birmingham the points came mainly from Lyons (a paid maximum of 16+2 from 6 rides), Jason King (11 from 5) and Adam Roynon (9+1 from 5). For Glasgow it looks like only the "Messiah" (14 from 5, including 4 from a Tactical Substitute ride) and to as lesser extent Leverington (8 from 5) bothered themselves. Ksiezak looks to have been particularly embarrassing, scoring a mere 3+1 from 4. Is Elite League stardom going to his head? Totally gobsmacked! I never expected this result. Just how bad were the Tigers or were Birmingham really that good? You don't have to look too far to see who is the biggest underperformer at Glasgow these days. Step forward.............Robert Ksiezak. What's all this talk of his Elite League performances? Take a look at who he has beaten to score a few points. For example last week he got 3+1 at Peterborough for Belle Vue. So what were the heroics he performed for that score? Well he got 2 from the reserves race ride by beating Michael Rajkowski formerly a patchy rider for Newport and Henrik Moller currently in the worst form of his life. His other point? Err.....he beat Henrik Moller again! Paid four for beating two mediocre Premier League dropouts, one of whom is his own partner, and a bonus point because, in one of the heats he beat Moller, Joe Screen happened to finish second. Just who has Ksiezak beaten in his Elite League performances to make anyone sit up and take notice? Time Glasgow ditched him and used his points plus those from a recalculation of averages when the two Aussies get 'real' averages to sign someone who can actually score decent points. (That is if there's anyone around!)

(That is if there's anyone around!) It's bad , really bad . To give you an example , there are a few of us in the bar after the meeting who chip in a tenner each and we vote on a rider of the match ( a tiger obviously ) . The rule is you cant vote for Shane - one of the lesser lights gets the dough ( usually about £100) . When i was asked tonight - i was totally stumped . Lets get one thing straight . Birmingham out rode us today , but they weren't anything outstanding . Lyons was good , King is a gating tart and our gating was horrendous . Roynon was ok , scored heavy without really doing much . Make no mistake we are a poor side . Shane tries manfully , Trent is ok at home , Big Lee is well big Lee - tries his hardest but is limited . Young Josh is still learning , but is doing ok . Brady cant stay on the bike for 4 laps . Mitchell is CL standard and i'm afraid i have no idea what Ksiezak's problem is . His gating ability seems to have deserted him and coming from the back was always a mystery to him anyway . But even in races if he is sitting second , when someone challenges he is shutting off and presenting them with the pass . I dont know where we go from here . A heavy loss at home to Edinburgh next week and the crowds will start to drop off as well . Depressing times at the Messiahdome at the minute .

Definitely a bit of a surprise that result.
Did the Brummies bring any supporters with them?

But there was Ksiezak in last week's Speedway Star saying he was "looking to race in the Elite League next year". Personally, I think someone needs to get him back in touch with reality.

Apart from all that Paulco, do I take it that the Tiggers did well to come second?

So the final Sunday of a month to forget at the Messiahdome sees the all-conquering Monarchs back again . A wee reshuffle of the line-ups sees us dreadfully weak in Heats 13 and 14 , but we'll see how it pans out . Glasgow Tigers 1 Trent Leverington 2 Robert Ksiezak 3 Shane Parker 4 Lee Dicken 5 Ross Brady 6 Josh Grajczonek 7 Mitchell Davey Edinburgh Monarchs 1 Derek Sneddon 2 Ryan Fisher 3 William Lawson 4 Thomas H Jonasson 5 Matthew Wethers 6 Andrew Tully 7 Aaron Summers And officiating in his 3,479 th Scottish Derby is none other than the Grand Monarch himself .

What a pity. I was looking forward to seeing Mrs Brady, the Trainee Messiah and Robert Size-ach! again.
I suppose I'll just have to settle for the new kids on the block.
The question is will the Monarchs be put to the sword by an 'on the rebound' Tigers or will it be another miserable Sunday for the Tiggerati?
I'm fairly confident that we won't lose by the 43 points that Workington hope we lose by to see them progress to the semis. Other than that - this is a derby and you can never tell who's coming to the party.

Beautiful spring morning in Glasgow . A week after the debacle against Birmingham i'm full of optimism again . Those evil Monarchs are getting smugger by the week , so it's the Tigers duty to the rest of the PL to bring them back down to earth today . C'mon the stripes .
