I like a traditional parade and victory lap but I see that the former allegedly gives an advantage to the opposition and nobody is interested in the latter. We are therefore going for 15 heats only and a so called press conference thingy in the bar at Peterborough. I'd scrap the bar job and keep the other two. What does everyone else think. Interesting that H&S regulations apparently stop riders throwing sweets to kiddies in case they get hurt (the kids that is)

Let's start facing facts, pre-meeting parades aren't what they once were now that the safety fascists insist on the riders wearing helmets (although, interestingly enough not in Poland). In the cruel, crazy town the so-called "Grand Parade" consists of the riders walking to the tapes, being introduced by the "wind bag" that is Dick Barrie and then being ferried round the track on an old pick-up truck. It's a joke.

I like to have the riders come around on a truck, and then them to have a couple of laps practice each. Nothing too fancy or drawn out, because I want the racing to start. And afterwards, the winning team should have a victory parade on the truck. Any interviews should take place on the centre green, where everyone can hear and see it, not just an exclusive few. The only decent Press Conferences I've seen were the Waggy ones, where the press were actually allowed to ask him awkward questions.

Well surprise, surprise, Ipswich have updated the presentation at Foxhall.
The riders parade on their bikes, without helmets, around the stock car track as a team, i.e. Ipswich 1-7 go first then away team 1-7 behind them.
They then line up with machines and are introduced to the crowd, then they are allowed to have practice starts and a bit of a burn before racing commences.
The winning team then parades at the end of the meeting on the back of a truck.
It has gone down very well with the fans, and the riders don't seem to mind.

Guess we have the best of both worlds at Reading.
Fans allowed into the pits pre-meeting for pit walk, pics, autographs with riders.
Parade as such - but like Sube says it is generally now riders out on a truck, quick intro to the fans & a couple of practice laps for both teams.
Victory lap - and unlike some clubs Reading will allow the visitors a victory lap should they win at Smallmead.
We then have a interview session in the bar which goes down well with the fans. Generally 3 or 4 riders attend and frequently we'll get comments from Tim Sugar or Wellie too.
It is a shame that H&S stick their noses into some aspects of the sport though. It used to be a real treat for some fans (an old girl at Smallmead especially who was well into her 70's) to take to the track on the back of the bike of their favourite rider and do a lap with them.

Our position seems to be "we are not given a practice at quite a few tracks before racing so we have installed the same mentality and we will not allow any team to practice before the start. our riders have all agreed that they are happy with this, they know the set ups so now they can go straight out and race . why give others the chance to change things, this is called home track advantage." & "It's not about our confidence in the side, it's what the Captain has said we should do to gain every little advantage." I would think that a bikes parade is probably better for business

I suspect it may be more a case of the tail (EoES) wagging the dog, or cat in our case. I may be wrong I'm sure I'll know about it.

So long as they're careful and make sure that the dummy doesn't hit anyone........!
