Looks like Geoff was right, as he so often is despite being bottom of the track shop fantasy league. Be there or be square by the stairs. I just hope the track doesn't get like this: Is that Simon Stead? I'll say it, before young Subedei gets the chance. No, it can't be Simon Stead, he's not locked up.

And a thoroughly pathetic display by the Bees means that Belle Vue get a draw at Brandon tonight (45:45). Speaking frankly, it looks like the Bees were lucky to stave off defeat. For the Bees only Schlein was really effective, scoring 12 from 5 rides. The rest appear to have been little more than a shambles, with Billy Janniro managing a couple of engine failures, while Simon Stead could only manage 5+1 from 4 rides. For the Aces, Jason Crump was supreme, with what appears to have been an effortless maximum and he was well backed-up by Charlie Gjedde (11 from 5), while Lukasz Jankowski took advantage of various engine failures and falls from the Bees to record 6+2 from 4 rides. But Screen, Rajkowski and Ksiezak managed just 7+1 between them.

Well, they went from wooden-spoonists in 2004 to champions in 2005 - signing Stead was always a massive error of judgement.

I disagree. My view is that they erred in signing Stead and losing the opportunity to go for strength in depth - Stead gave them a "top heavy" look, but without a genuinely serious top liner, such as Crump or Adams. Crump doesn't appear to have broken sweat tonight, except perhaps on the occasion he shepherded Forsberg around for a 5-1.

You have to phone me and say that in your accent at some point (just not now.) I have faith in Forsberg. The pressure has been on him since he re-signed, but I do think tonight's score is a sign of things to come.

Forsberg was value for the Aces.
Stead was crap for Bees, like Stuart Robson on one of his bad days. Big locker and on his arse he goes. Schlein and Harris well below par and showing how much they owed to Scott Nicholls in the last couple of seasons. Both tactically unaware during races and losing places as a result.
Incidentally, the "New Mexicans" being arseholes after the match and tailed by security as I left and they moved towards the understand bar, where I left Jacques in training for a visit by Paulco.

And don't forget of course BJ often used Scott's bikes when he couldn't be arsed to look after his , obviously missed them tonight.

I didn't even notice them...might me something to do with me bumping me gums about that meeting.. ;D Talk about gifting points... I don't know why, but I enjoyed the meeting despite the fact I was literally banging my head off a brick wall in disbelief/frustration.. ;D Why oh why do the Coventry management insist on blowing kisses up Chris Harris arse...he shouldn't have been in heat 15 Olly Allen should ...after all he can gate ffs...and then they put him off gate 2...I give up, lets just hope that point we threw away last night doesn't become crucial at the end of the season.. On a positive note Messing is looking better.

It was indeed a mistake to let Scott Nicholls go. It should have been Nicholls backed up by one of either Harris or Stead, and then a balanced line-up underneath them. What Coventry have settled on is a top-heavy team, but still without a geniune No. 1. It would have worked had Harris and Schlein stepped up to the plate, but as yet they haven't done so. I still think Coventry will go on and have a half-decent season - and it still wouldn't surprise me to see them in the play-offs. Dropped home points are less important this season, as long as you can make up with some away three pointers.
