Belle Vue Aces beat the Lakeside Hammers by four points (47:43). The team led by AJ was leading most time though... until the moment when Andreas had to withdrawn. Hammers' leader fell in heat 11 and broke his finger. (More soon...)
From Andreas' website.
Leigh Lanham also withdrew from the meeting in the same heat. Best wishes to both riders.

broke his finger. (More soon...) From Andreas' website. I wonder whether it will look like my little one. I broke play in goal but was told by my elders - it's not broken and now I look like an idiot with this crooked finger. Best wishes to both teams.

Absolutely gutted by the events at Kirkmanshulme Lane tonight............the defeat can easily be made up, there's plenty of time for that, but to lose two of your in form riders in the first league match of the season is sickening.........best wishes for a speedy recovery to Leigh and AJ..........and are Lakeside ever going to get over their injury jinx?

Update from www.ajracing.seBelle Vue Aces beat the Lakeside Hammers by four points. AJ's team was leading most time... until the moment when Andreas had to withdrawn. In heat 11 AJ's bike suddenly jolted and then hit on Lanham's rear wheel. Both riders fell. I'm feeling really bruised and have a headache. This hit must have been very hard as it cracked my new helmet, which was taken by the ref later, in accord with the regulations. I destroyed my bike a bit too but that's not most important. My both hands are aching but I can't say anything more cause I'm not a doctor. I was examined at the stadium but will do the x-ray and other examinations tomorrow in Sweden. I think it's not that bad as I can move both hands. My right wrist is aching but I can move it so I hope it's just bruised, not broken. I had an operation on this wrist some time ago so maybe that's why. We'll see tomorrow. I'm going to the hotel at the moment and flying to Sweden tomorrow morning. I wish it stopped aching. Anyway, as for now - see in Rybnik on Sunday!

Early indications for Leigh Lanham from Lakeside's website are that nothing is broken, but they are awaiting confirmation from both riders.
