Poole Castle Cover Pirates have been given the news that they really didn't want to hear ahead of their opening Elite league meeting (at Wolverhampton on Monday) as it has been confirmed that in-form Adam Skornicki broke his wrist in his heat 11 crash at Swindon on Thursday. Adam, who only just acquired a new sponsor, SAF, on the back of a very impressive start to the season for Poole, was trying to pass Swindon reserve Theo Pijper when he clipped the Robins' riders back wheel and both riders fell heavily. Poole co-promoter Matt Ford said "This is bad news for Adam and for us as a club as we were knitting together well as a team and Adam had settled in very quickly. I never doubted Adam's potential, I have always believed him to be a big scorer in the right team and I had a feeling that our 2008 side was just the sort of surroundings that would bring out the best in him. The injury means that he is likely to be sidelined for around 6 weeks, just as we are going into the league campaign. We will cover with the rider replacement facility in the short term and just hope that Adam makes a swift and speedy recovery." Skornicki would have been expected to play a pivotal role on Monday when the Castle Cover Pirates travel to his former club Wolverhampton.
From the Poole website.
That's going to hit them harder than they'd have thought pre-season - Skornicki's been scoring much heavier than expected.

From Poole's website:
Surgeons operating on Adam Skornicki's broken wrist have given the Pole a huge boost by indicating that he could be back racing again this month. 'Sqora' underwent an operation to pin the broken bone and he has already got movement back in the wrist and has been told that if things continue to heal without complications there should be no reason why he couldn't resume his place in the Castle Cover Pirates in about a fortnight. Poole co-promoter Matt Ford said "I have spoken with Adam and it seems that the operation has been a great success and Adam has told me he is targetting our meeting against Coventry (April 16th) as a comeback date. That is good news indeed provided that Adam is fully fit and I am certain he will receive a grand reception when he does pull on the Poole kevlars again."
