Well, since there now appears to be a 50-50 chance of Peterborough being in the Premier League next season, if he seeks me out in the cruel, crazy town, I'll see what I can manage. The whole Premier situation has generated pages and pages of publicity, large chunks of radio time and 8 mins on BBC Look East TV last night. I think Mick Bratley knows perfectly well what he is doing he is very media savvy, best mates with a Talksport presenter who has schooled him well and he is no fool on the internet. You should google Mick Bratley sometime. You would be foolish to treat him lightly, he is fair but will fight his corner and fight it well. Well, flying in the face of the old epithet 'all publicity is good publicity', from what I've read the "media savvy" Mr Bratley has done very little other than to show himself and the rest of the management team in a very poor light. Following the total farrago of misinformation surrounding the demise of Oxford, I would think anyone who aligns himself with the dread Voldemort would actually be well advised not to issue any statement at all, until every fact has been checked, double checked and then checked again for it's validity; even then I'd be inclined to say nothing. The fact is, anything that appeared in any way to be detrimental to the Panthers (and demoting your own team couldn't possibly be construed in any other way) was always going to bring up the whole sorry saga of the Cheetahs all over again. I did take the trouble the google Mr Bratley; I turned up a few references to a website concerning Peterborough United FC that he apparently published (dated 2000), some recent stuff that appeared in the local press, and an obscure posting on a Northampton Town FC message board (dated 1999); all it told me was that he can post on the internet and possibly publish a website (although that doesn't mean he can author one), so pretty inconclusive really. As for the inference that he is "best friends" with a talkSPORT presenter (in itself a highly dubious honour, and not one I'd necessarily want to admit to), after his performance on the Panthers forum, I'm surprised he has a best friend.

So, do I understand correctly that the PL story was just something to get media interest? Not at all but an example of how Mick can turn a negative into a positve to benefit of the club. I know he was really angry with the local paper for making such a big story out of something I would imaging many EL clubs must be considering. Less than a week later he has got the club 8 minutes of prime time tv exposure. Like I said, he is not stupid.

The question of Mick Bratley being the evil or the good is a difficult one, much like Crumpie... like Witch, in my various dealings with him, he has always been polite, well informed and basically a nice person BUT in reason months, I have become a little confused at his postings, at the vitriol sometimes directed at people and the slightly blurred truth he has posted, it is the same with the so called evil master at Peterborough, my dealings with him have always been brilliant and the public evil one I am seeing now is so so different from the private one I saw last season.
I have always said that sometimes when the chips are down and pressures increase, that it can change a persons demeanour, and at the time of the Oxford saga, put evil one's postings down to financial pressure causing an almost breakdown like mentality.
That said, none of the above excuses what seems to be happening at the moment.
My Flapperjack of the week ? Bloody Speedway Fanatic/Mildenhall07 or whatever he chooses to call himself for pulling out of an update on the day, expecting someone else to inform his texter and then once over 40 texts had been sent out to find another updater (succesfully), changes his mind and decides to update after all! Then gets shirty when the cost of all this is pointed out to him.

I have to say that from my experience with Mick at Ipswich he was always very straight and reasonable over anything to do with Hans - and certainly he is very good with interviews etc. I wonder if some of the problem with his dealings at the Showground is that there is a party line he has to toe? He's certainly said some stuff online that I would suggest might have been better left unsaid though. Sometimes "less is more" - but regardless of that I have a strong feeling that Promoters - regardless of WHICH promoters - shouldn't get too involved in fans forums etc. Good with interviews ;D ;D Who could forget his interview on planet speedway when he said that the boro team was worth 250k and the oxford one was worth two bob . Was a shocker and ever since his legal stuff banning people off forums etc has just added to that he's a pr nightmare .

Let's not get carried away, we're talking about 8 minutes on a regional news programme that probably has an audience in the thousands, rather than millions.

I attributed a couple of texts I got from other people to Bagpuss. I have apologised on all the threads that carried the updates. I'm not perfect but I did my best. Obviously my best wasn't quite good enough

This Thread seems to be pretty Pommy-centric lately, one could even dub it parochial; Go Global!! I'd like to nominate George Bush.
