There'll be a regal air in the cruel, crazy town this Saturday, as the Monarchs from the Heathen capital (sort of, since they're now based some distance away from "Auld Reekie") make their way south in search of an away win. And although the Monarchs haven't enjoyed the best of seasons themselves, JDC and his merry men must be fancying their chances, since Genghis only knows what type of makeshift team Peter Waite will be able to track (the holy Genghis, not the imposter on these boards, who knows next to nothing). The Monarchs should be tracking their usual line-up, assuming they emerge unscathed from a Friday night encounter with Rye House, and Jiri Stancl Jnr is a bit of a Shielfield expert, while Laukkanen should be good for a double figure score. Add in Wethers, Tully and the "Desperate One" and you have a decent enough line-up for Shielfield Park - certainly a line-up Waite would track, if he could. But what sort of line-up will Waite be tracking, that's the question. Makovsky, Meldrum and Burza look to be side-lined for the remainder of the season, but new signing Matej Kus should've recovered from the "mild concussion" sustained in the grim Heathen city on Sunday. A bit of a shame that Kus is Berwick's No 1 averaged rider, since that means only R/R to cover Makovsky instead of a guest, since if Newport aren't riding, Michal Rajkowksi would've seemed to be an ideal guest after scoring heavily in his Shielfield Park debut for the Wasps. Assuming no new signings, a guest facility should be available for Burza and, again subject to Newport not being in action, would the averages allow Tom Hedley, who also seemed to take to the Shielfield Park track for the Wasps, be an option? But Peter Waite claims to have "irons in the fire", so will Berwick's much-maligned promoter pull another Pole from his hat ahead of Saturday? Norbert Kosciuch was the rumour of the week not so very long ago. Should be an interesting night in the cruel, crazy town and possibly one of the last occasions people will be able to witness the second wonder of the speedway world in a Bandits race jacket, so I'd urge you all to get yourselves there. The Weirdity in action is something not to be missed.

Nothing more than a massive defeat is on the cards, not wanting to be over optimistic or any thing. With all due respect to Rajkowski and Hedley they did score well but they weren't great don't think they would trouble riders like Stancl and Laukenen, I am a fan of his so maybe a little biased but the best Newport rider was Schramm, other than the two reckless moves he was sensational on Saturday rode Shielfield better than when he was there ! and he knew that him self, guest wise I would have to be in favour of asking good old Sergeant Wilko.

Does anybody know exactly what the redeclared Berwick side is after the dismissal of Andreas Bergstrom and Theo Pijper?
Presumably they have Matej Kus, Michal Makovsky, Jacek Rempala, Stanislaw Burza, Sam Martin and David Meldrum with John Morrison? as the other rider.
Without Makovsky, Burza, Meldrum and Morrison, all of whom seem to be out injured, they will (I guess) have to use R/R for Makovsky and get guests for Burza, Meldrum and Morrison. Meldrum and Morrison might be hard to replace effectively since a lot of the good Conference League riders will be riding in the CL Riders' Championship at Rye House. Burza doesn't have a very high average (I think - 6. something maybe?) so there may be a bit of scratching around to find a suitable replacement for him.
Now if Peter Waite comes up with another Pole will he too come in on an assessed average causing the team to be redeclared again? Can this be done at such a late stage of the season? And if so, will someone else have to make way?
Answers please on a postcard.............

Answers please on a postcard............. Who knows? Anyway, I forgot to mention that former Bandit and former Monarch for that matter, Michael Coles, currently with the heathen Tigers is, I believe, booked to replace Tessari for the Monarchs on Saturday. So, the only Monarch who'll struggle to trouble the scorer should be Kalle Katajisto.

Michael rides at Armadale for us too on Friday night against Rye House but, hey!, what a schedule for a 42 year old. Wednesday...King's Lynn Thursday......Redcar Friday..........Armadale Saturday......Berwick Sunday........Ashfield Monday........The Knacker's yard!

It now appears that Berwick's new No 1 Matej Kus will not have recovered in time for Berwick's clash against the heathen Monarchs, leaving just Sam Martin and the second wonder of the speedway world from Berwick's 1-7 fit for Saturday. It looks like Berwick will be going with R/R and FOUR guests.

And just found out that the man paulco refers to as the "Grand Monarch" will be officiating this fixture. Yes, Glasgow's favourite referee Jim McGregor will be in charge, which is preferable to the golem Flint, obviously.

Anyone seen the weather forecast for this weekend . Quite possible Peter Waite might have a wee bit more time to assemble a team after all .

Nice to see Waite reads this forum Wilko will guest and Bekker again with the possibility of Clews at reserve. I don't think Peter Waite reads any speedway forums. In any case there's no way that Paul Clews can ride at reserve on a 5.63 average. I think you'll find that a certain young Australian on an assessed 5.00 point average will be in the side though. That still leaves Berwick scouting around for guests for David Meldrum (3.73 or less) and John Morrison (3.00) although Byron Bekker could certainly fill one of those spots.

Would Clews 3 home 3 away not put him on 4.13 hence why he is reserve at Newcastle, would Stoddart not still be in the team if he was on 4.63 and Clews 5.63
But yes It wouldn't make a difference it would seem Clews had been an option to guest in the main body of the team

The 3 home/3 away is only used for team placement.
The Berwick team has now been listed on the Official Berwick website:
Berwick's team for Saturday's match against the Monarchs is:
1. Carl Wilkinson 2. Arlo Bugeja 3. Rider Replacement 4. Ritchie Hawkins 5. Jac Rempala 6. Sam Martin 7. Byron Bekker
I still don't understand how a rider on an assessed average of 5 can replace David Meldrum who is on 3.73 but then there's a lot about the rules I don't understand.

The 3 home/3 away is only used for team placement. I don't think that's right, young merlin. After all, Laukkanen's 3 home and 3 away average made a difference regarding who could guest for him - ruled out Lyons. And Newport's Rajkowski made numerous guest facilities at reserve when his 3 home and 3 away average was released. I believe the 3 home and 3 away average is merely used for team building.

I thought the same my self.
The Bugeja rule is just ridiculous have the B.S.P.A shown compassion because they realize he is pish ?.
