This week sees Uncle Len Silver and his Rockets braving the cruel, crazy town in search of a couple of points. Over the years Silver has always managed to field a strong team down at Rye House, but they've seldom got to grips with a Berwick track so different from their own. Last year, in spite of an 18 point maximum from guest Danny Bird, the Rockets were defeated fairly comprehensively at Shielfield Park and their fans at the BSF have no great hopes for this season either. Mind you, a lot of the Berwick fans at the BSF seem to have even fewer hopes. It'll be interesting to see whether Sebastian Truminski has a bit more speed than last week, when he looked very slow compared with the other riders, although it didn't stop him picking up three paid wins and spoiling Franc's maximum hopes. I expect Berwick to win fairly comfortably, led by the weirdity. Andyone else have any thoughts?

Can only see a home win here . The form of Tai Woffinden will determine the margin of victory . Neath has never been happy on the larger circuits and Tommy Allan is a joke on them . Don't piss them off too much tomorrow night as i dont want them taking the huff and going home before Sunday .

At Edinburgh last night Rye House were due to use r/r for Tommy Allan . No idea what's wrong with young Mr Allan , maybe it's too far north for him ( wouldn't be the first ) . Could improve Rye's chances though as if my memory serves me correctly Allan was minging at Sheilfield Park last season .

I understand he has a bad back. Now whether this is the result of a fall, or simply the old "get out of work free card" putting in an appearance, I wouldn't like to guess.

Well, a reasonable enough meeting in front of a decent crowd that included a very large number from Rye House, seemingly all bedecked in their "Northern Tour" T-shirts. The highlights of the meeting were a couple of first rate passes, first Burza getting the better of Kessler in Ht 5 and then Makovsky flying around Kessler in Ht 11 - both moves were superbly executed and worthy of the admission alone. Boxall and Kessler were good value. Kessler, indeed, was most unfortunate with a puncture denying him a win in Ht 1. His misfortune continued in Ht 8, when he picked up drive on the 2nd turn and ended up in the fence - the race should really have been stopped for a dubious start. As for the wonder-kid Woffindon, he looked lost in his first outing, but rode better thereafter. The choice of Neath in Ht 15 caused a few shaking heads among the Rye House following and it was a weird decision.

Burza's pursuit and subsequent pass was quite sublime. They young Sub nearly jumped out of his driving shoes - except they were absent - replaced by a fine pair of Gucci loafers.
Is Burza going to start to show some form?

Wasn't there to see it but can quite imagine Stan's pass, he has the ability to make very good riders look like a school boy from the back, some thing I didn't think he could do last year so I guess I should take back my " Stan has talent but cant pass comments ", he is probably the most gifted rider Waite has owned but he has an infuriating lack of consistency.

It seems to me that Burza only really gives it his all when he's worked up about something or other. For example, his pass of Rusty Harrison in Ht 15 of the meeting against Stoke, when Burza was off a 15 metre handicap. Burza had earlier had a run-in with the unfortunate Garry Stead and seemed on a mission in Ht 15. And again on Saturday against Rye House, when Robbie Kessler was very hard on Burza exiting the 2nd turn. For the rest of the race Burza was a man on a mission and he finally managed to outwit and befuddle Kessler on the 3rd-4th turns of lap 3.

Sort of " dont make me angry - you wouldn't like me when i'm angry " stuff . On the other side though - at the Berwick v Glasgow PT match in April he looked unbeatable in his first four rides , but in the all-important Ht 15 was found wanting as Glasgow clinched the meeting with a 5-1 .

He's had a few meetings like that at Berwick this season - sitting on a maximum going into Ht 15 and then flopping. I think a lot of Burza is a mental thing - he gets uptight about his maximum and forgets to concentrate on racing. I also think at the back of his mind is a concern about getting into another bad accident that inhibits his racing, until a little red mist descends and he goes hell for leather to correct a perceived injustice.
