most sane people would agree that swindon, belle vue and peterborough have little chance of being this years champions, that leaves six other teams,i saw four of them yesterday, and am far from convinced the champions were among them. so my question to: jacques, genghis, cousteau, booey, kevh, braveheart, all the witches, and anyone else who saw any of the 'big six' yesterday.
which one of that lot were the champions?

Having not been online yesterday, I got up to check the Lakeside score today, expecting, especially after their away win, a decent home victory. I read it first on gunk's round-up, and wasn't sure if he was joking, so double checked on the BSF. Not sure it's just me, but there seem to have been some very odd results lately - Belle Vue winning, Poole being beaten by Eastbourne. Well, that's if you go by the predictions people were making pre-season.
I'm not sure Lakeside are altogether there at the moment. Poole might be in some doubt over Klindt (from what I can make out), Peterborough haven't ridden yet, Coventry didn't win against Wolves, yet people still seem to think they're top 4 material. I don't know - not one team is standing out for me at the moment, and that's probably a good thing. At least it means it's open season and we could see a close fought contest for the top 4. Although, are the play-offs still the top 4 teams, or is it 6 now?

SR - Coventry looked very impressive yesterday, with a strong team performance from 1-7. They don't have an out-and-out No. 1, but maybe that isn't needed under a 38.85 limit, it's more important to get lesser lights who can score. Then again, they got trounced at Wolves on Monday, so do they have the necessary away firepower? Time will tell. And there's always some strange results at this time of year. It won't be until mid-April that things start to settle down, and the true picture emerges.

the team spirit in the pits looked far better without nicki. Not a surprise - the same happened at Oxford in 2003 after Nicki was sacked. Of course, Nicki was forced out by the 38.85 points limit, and it had nothing to do with either the fact he wanted megabucks or that he only wanted to commit to 18 meetings? Still find Nicki a fascinating character, though - especially when things are not going well. ;D

Incidentally, SR, that has to be the worst use of the quote function for some time, it's just as well Sub is broken. ;D

It's far too early to predict who will be champions SR, but I'd expect Lakeside, Poole, Wolves, Coventry and Eastbourne fighting it out for the playoff places.

I'm still not yet convinced we can do it again this year, i'm not actually convinced i want us to after the way we we're torn up in the winter.I need to see a decent away performance first & foremost. There are members of the team that are impreesing me, particularly Billy J, who even went past Messing last night rather than collect a bonus point(that'll shut Peter Adams up). Olly is the other one, i really do feel he's in for a good year, injury free hopefully. Simon Stead has had 9 unbeaten rides at Brandon now & long may it continue, Adams is sure to break that on Monday but we'll see.Harris' gating last night was atrocious tbh, but he makes up for it with his racing plus a little bit of luck. Rory has a lot of problems to iron out i think, but i'm sure he'd rather be in his own shoes than Freddie Lindgren's . Stan will do ok as a reserve in time, but Messing is one i am a little concerned with as he is fighting the throttle all the time. That's all the waffling from me except, what odd reults between Witches & Hammers.

I think Eastbourne have a good chance of being champions, but only if we get our reserves scoring. I believe both of them will improve through the season, but they will need a lot of help and support from the team, as well as maybe some better bikes as neither of them seemed to have much power at either meeting yesterday.
SR- I totally agree about team spirit. Bridger said it all when he was interviewed. He now knows he is partnered with someone who will look for him, unlike Nicki last season he would just head straight for the fence.
I also wouldn't write of Poole. They look very comfortable at home and when/if Bjarne Pedersen can get on form they will be a very good team.
