And time for another update, as we have a new leader in the GP-wins stakes, with the Crumpmeister finally getting the better of Tony Rickardsson:
1..J Crump..(AUS)..21 2..T Rickardsson..(SWE)..20 3..T Gollob..(POL)..14 4=..N Pedersen..(DEN)..9 4=..G Hancock..(USA)..9 6..L Adams..(AUS)..8 7=..B Hamill..(USA)..6 7=..H Nielsen..(DEN)..6 9=..R Sullivan..(AUS)..4 9=..H Andersen..(DEN)..4 11=..T Knudsen..(DEN)..3 11=..A Jonsson..(SWE)..3 13=..M Loram..(GBR)..2 13=..E Sajfutdinov..(RUS)..2 15=..B Andersen..(DEN)..1 15=..M Dugard..(GBR)..1 15=..B Pedersen..(DEN)..1 15=..C Harris..(GBR)..1 15=..R Holta..(POL)..1
The global superstar still to make an appearance.

Another win for the great man seems to provide an ideal excuse to update the GP winners list. And here it is:
1..J Crump..(AUS)..107..21 2..T Rickardsson..(SWE)..84..20 3..T Gollob..(POL)..114..15 4..G Hancock..(USA)..118..10 5..N Pedersen..(DEN)....83..9 6..L Adams..(AUS)..111..8 7=..B Hamill..(USA)..52..6 7=..H Nielsen..(DEN)..30..6 9=..R Sullivan..(AUS)..62..4 9=..H Andersen..(DEN)..60..4 11=..T Knudsen..(DEN)..10..3 11=..A Jonsson..(SWE)..75..3 13=..M Loram..(GBR)..66..2 13=..E Sajfutdinov..(RUS)..7..2 15=..B Andersen..(DEN)..29..1 15=..M Dugard..(GBR)..3..1 15=..B Pedersen..(DEN)..58..1 15=..C Harris..(GBR)..29..1 15=..R Holta..(POL)..65..1
The global superstar still to have his day, in spite of 75 attempts.

Andreas Jonsson moves up the table after his fourth GP win in Vojens last evening. Here's the revised table:

So Martin Dugard, with the best win ratio, is the best rider in GP history.

So Martin Dugard, with the best win ratio, is the best rider in GP history. Isn't Les Collins about the highest averaged rider in world final history after his 13 point haul in his one and only world final?

So Martin Dugard, with the best win ratio, is the best rider in GP history. According to your logic, Dugard is now just joint best rider in GP history as Sajfutdinov matches his win ratio. Meanwhile, the updated table looks a lot like this: 1..J Crump..(AUS)..109.. 212..T Rickardsson..(SWE)..84.. 203..T Gollob..(POL)..116.. 154..G Hancock..(USA)..120.. 105..N Pedersen..(DEN)....85.. 96..L Adams..(AUS)..113.. 87=..B Hamill..(USA)..52.. 67=..H Nielsen..(DEN)..30.. 69=..R Sullivan..(AUS)..62.. 49=..H Andersen..(DEN)..62.. 49=..A Jonsson..(SWE)..77.. 412=..T Knudsen..(DEN)..10.. 312=..E Sajfutdinov..(RUS)..9.. 314..M Loram..(GBR)..66.. 215=..B Andersen..(DEN)..29.. 115=..M Dugard..(GBR)..3.. 115=..B Pedersen..(DEN)..58.. 115=..C Harris..(GBR)..31.. 115=..R Holta..(POL)..67.. 1Still no sign of the global superstar putting in an appearance.

And the great man from Bydgoszcz adds another GP win to his impressive tally - he has now won four times the number of GPs as British riders have:
1..J Crump..(AUS)..110..21 2..T Rickardsson..(SWE)..84..20 3..T Gollob..(POL)..117..16 4..G Hancock..(USA)..121..10 5..N Pedersen..(DEN)....86..9 6..L Adams..(AUS)..114..8 7=..B Hamill..(USA)..52..6 7=..H Nielsen..(DEN)..30..6 9=..R Sullivan..(AUS)..62..4 9=..H Andersen..(DEN)..63..4 9=..A Jonsson..(SWE)..78..4 12=..T Knudsen..(DEN)..10..3 12=..E Sajfutdinov..(RUS)..10..3 14..M Loram..(GBR)..66..2 15=..B Andersen..(DEN)..29..1 15=..M Dugard..(GBR)..3..1 15=..B Pedersen..(DEN)..58..1 15=..C Harris..(GBR)..32..1 15=..R Holta..(POL)..68..1
Still no sign of the global superstar in the list.

But of course it's not about GP wins, they are merely a means to an end, the end being the World Championship, to which Loram has one, as does tonights awfully dressed pundit, whereas Gollob has jack shit, in fact the during the whole history of Polish speedway they can only muster a very pitiful ONE.

We'll never know, of course, how many world titles Gollob would've won had the one-off world final remained - but venue location would surely have seen at least three finals staged in his homeland during his career and, as we see year after year, he's nigh on unstoppable at Bydgoszcz. You can't just look at titles won now that it's a GP series - you also have to look at GP wins to determine the merit of the rider. Or are you seriously claiming that Loram is better than Gollob? I don't think even Loram's greatest fan would claim that. Most sane people certainly wouldn't.

Loram had the bottle to grasp his opportunity to become World Champion in 2000, something lacking in Gollob the year before. Yes Gollob has won at Bydgoszcz numerous times, but what happened the two times at Bydgoszcz it really mattered? Answer: Gollob fell to pieces. And I see Martin Dugard is clear of Emil Sayfutdinov once more.

I agree that he would have scooped a few one off titles, but there is NO chance of a one off World Final ever being held at Bydgoszcz! I might be wrong, but did Loram not need Fat Shaggy to bail him out in the Final round of 2000? As for 99....Surely that was more about injury than "bottle".... Sorry to say it, but Loram is by far the least deserving World Champ since the GP series was introduced....

As for 99....Surely that was more about injury than "bottle".... Gollob was injured after Bydgoszcz '99 not before it. Hans Nielsen won Bydgoszcz in '99 ahead of Tony Rickardson with Gollob only fifth. The other time Gollob went to Bydgoszcz with a chance of becoming World Champion was 2001. He failed to even reach the semi-finals. No bottle.

I agree that he would have scooped a few one off titles, but there is NO chance of a one off World Final ever being held at Bydgoszcz! They've been staged in stranger places. Bydgoszcz is obviously a FIM circuit and the Poles might've selected the stadium and track most likely to deliver a Gollob victory, so a final in Bydgoszcz isn't perhaps as far-fetched as it seems.
