I saw him a couple of times, when Cradley Heath visited the cruel. crazy town's Berrington Lough track in 1991. And I have one of the meetings on video, I think. A wonderfully stylish rider, with a reputation for over-taking. But sadly on his visits to the Borders, he had his gating boots on and didn't have to do any overtaking.

I'm sure he held the track record at Foxhall in the early 90's?
Back in 1986-87 when I had my Fizzy, I had a Nolan crash helmet with the hawk on the side just like Jan O used.

Yes, i remember him racing at the Lough Sub, as you say he didnt have to overtake anyone. Very neat little rider and i had a chat with him on the way as he was having something to eat and he commented on how much he had enjoyed his visit to Berrrignton Lough. Super guy.

Luckily he left the gating boots at home most weeks (apart from his 4.5 perfect starts in the 91 world final . A great rider and a pleasure to watch for a young'un like me back in the day. He also had a pretty cool black car which looked like Kit from Knight Rider - with an alarm that would go off if you even looked at it the wrong way

Remember that i'm saying this as a Bees fan now won't you. Jan O was one of the most pleasant guys in speedway you could wish for.It was never too much for im to stop & chat after meetings even if he had to be somewhere for the next day. As a rider he was always good to watch , & a complete sportsman.
