Bo Petersen, the baldy Dane who rode for Hackney back when i was a kid in the 70's and 80's i remember him so well.
Hadnt heard anything bout him for years.
Anyone have any info wether hes still alive, or what he does now, etc, he must be getting on a bit now if he is still alive.

Hi Gunk. You must have been at Hackney around the same time as I was if you remember Bo. Great track that I miss almost as much as Canterbury, and some excellent riders too. Not many people beat Schoie and Andy Galvin round Waterden Road.
Bo went on to ride at Arena Essex, but after that I have no idea. I can try and find out for you if you like?

Okay, I asked Cliv Clav from the BSF and this is what he said:
Bo rode for Swindon after leaving Hackney. Then drifted in and out of British speedway in the late 80's with stints at King's Lynn and Wolves, replacing the injured Sam Ermolenko, in the top flight.
In 1991 his long time sponsor and friend Ivan Henry took control of Arena Essex, with Terry Russell, and Bo agreed to ride for the Hammers in the second division. He topped the league averages that year, with Hammers team mate and friend Brian Karger in second place.
Bo moved into the top flight when Arena won the second division, and remained an 8 point plus rider despite using inferior equipment to the rest of the top stars. He announced his retirement from the sport at the end of 1992. But, following an injury crisis at Arena in 1993, with Peter Ravn, Andy Galvin, Troy Pratt and Brian Karger all injured, Bo agreed to return to the Hammers to help them in their hour of need. Together with Leigh Adams and Josh Larsen, he steered the Hammers to 4th place in the league and the KO Cup final. Attaining another 8+ average, despite flying in the day of each match and back out to work the following day in Denmark. I believe he had a job refitting vans back then.
At the end of 1993, Bo once again retired from the sport. He made only one more appearance on track, in 1995's Andy Galvin Benefit meeting at Arena Essex riding for the Hammers Dream Team.
I haven't heard a great deal of Bo since then. But he was present at the Hackney reunion a couple of seasons back.
There was also a rumour he is now a plumber back in Denmark.

remember Bo at Oxford in 1988, when he was excluded or something, and was interviewed. He said something along the lines that he wasn't fair and he wasn't coming back at Oxford again. At which point, he headed back to the pits, to find a few hundred Oxford fans holding out their hankies and tissues. We could be cruel at times All the best Rob
