Official IOW press release:
Wightlink Islanders Jason Bunyan and Andrew Bargh filled first and third places respectively in the New Zealand Championship that took place at Invercargill last Saturday. Jason, who will skipper the 2008 Wightlink Islanders, took the title with an immaculate 15 points maximum winning all five of his races in fine style. Bargh, thankfully fully recovered from the ankle injury sustained at the end of last season, showed he is back to fitness by defeating Alex Cunningham in a run off for third place on the podium after both had finished on 12 points.
RESULT:
1. JASON BUNYAN 15pts 2. LARRY ROSS 13pts 3. ANDREW BARGH 12pts (After run off) 4. ALEX CUNNINGHAM 12pts
AND AN ISLANDERS ONE TWO IN NORTH ISLAND CHAMPS!
A few days earlier, the same Wightlink Islanders duo had finished first and second in the New Zealand North Island Championship ahead of all the local riders. Once again it was Bunyan who took top spot ahead of Bargh who had beaten his skipper into second place when the two met in the semi-final.
1st semi final:
Andrew Bargh 1st Jason Bunyan 2nd Karl Bagshaw 3rd Dylan Moohan 4th
2nd semi final:
Jade Mudgway 1st Jamie Moohan 2nd Craig Ramsay 3rd Mitchell McHardy 4th
Final: 1st Jason Bunyan 2nd Andrew Bargh 3rd Jamie Moohan 4th Jade Mudgway
Well, if nothing else I finally know it's Jade Mudgway and not Jake. Shame the BBC don't.
