Well as there are no threads open in the IoW section i thought the subject might be worth discussing before he leaves for pastures new.Just how good is this youngster?Only having seen him the once it is hard for me to judge. But just to say he wasn't fully fit.He could hardly walk properly from a fall he had just days before the Vojens U21 semi, but he won the meeting dropping just the one point to young Lewis Bridger. He must go into the Final as one of the top favourites and will probably take the EL by storm next year.Looking forward to seeing him line up for Australia against a real quality field in the SWC quali,to see if he can pull off a few surprises.Any opinions on him from those that have seen him?

I think the guy is the most exciting , entertaining rider i've saw in years . Trouble is though he is still very wild . If he can get through the next 2 or 3 years without doing himself any serious damage , then he is a surefire future World Champion .

Certainly made a huge impression on me when he led the Islanders to victory in the cruel, crazy town last season. He is still very raw, but to my mind is the most exciting rider in the Premier League at the minute. A fantastic prospect and almost certain to set the Elite League alight next season, if the Elite League manages to survive long enough.

Must admit not one of my favourites and I usually love the Aussies. He just seems to be totally reckless at times with his riding when there is no need. He obviously has great talent when it comes to riding a speedway bike but just needs to calm down a fraction. Having said that he seems to be doing great at the moment, my worry is for other riders that get in his way.

Poole-asset Chris Holder has reported that he has 'double-booked' himself for this evening. Having agreed to ride in Poole's penultimate home meeting of the season as the Poole Castle Cover Pirates take on a Vicrown Development Select side where fellow Australian Craig Boyce will say his 'farewells', Holder has also been booked to ride for a Leicester side in a challenge fixture against King's Lynn also being staged this evening. Holder who has courted plenty of interest from Elite league promoters throughout the summer signed Poole papers last year and many Pirate fans were disappointed that he chose to stay an extra season in the Premier league. But it would seem odds-on that Holder will make the step-up to Elite level for 2008 although at this stage there can be no absolute guarantees that it will be with Poole. Promoter Matt Ford said "Naturally someone of Chris' ability is sure to be on everyone's wanted list and he is of course on ours but there still remains a lot of things to be sorted out before we can confirm whether Chris will be a Poole rider in his debut Elite league year. Not least the BSPA have to finally agree on the team building regulations for next year. Once that has been passed then of course we can crystalise all our ideas and see which option best fits for Poole to be serious title contenders next year.". From: www.poolespeedway.net

First saw him at BV in an u-21 round in 2005.
He was 17 and on borrowed kit but still scored an impressive 10 points including a fall.
I alerted Rosco to him thge following weekend, he obviously listened..not!

POOLE promoter Matt Ford has moved to clarify the position regarding Pirates asset Chris Holder after much speculation this week. Holder is set to move into the Elite League next year, and the smart money is on that being at Wimborne Road despite the fact that he missed a Challenge match that he had been booked for there this week. The reason was that the Australian had double-booked himself, and honoured his first booking for a meeting at King's Lynn where he was representing Leicester - who are hoping to return to the sport in 2009 after 25 years away. Ford said: "He would have been part of the set-up in 2007 had he decided to move up to the Elite League at the start of this season. Instead, he preferred to have one more season with the Isle of Wight. "We have never put any pressure on him, but he has always been aware that he has been central to our forward planning. "It's very rare in this day and age in business but we have a gentleman's agreement in place with Chris. "Supporters and rival clubs can speculate all they want, but I know the bond that we have in place between Poole Speedway and Chris Holder." From www.speedwayworld.tv
