He's at a Glasgow Tigers function, from whence he is texting details of announcements. He's an official of the supporters club.

Just a wee footnote from tonight . The first meeting at the Messiahdome in 2008 will be on Sunday 9th March - against you know who presumably . And at some point in 2008 there will be a benefit meeting for David McAllan , who is not really making the progress back to full health we all hoped .

I can't say I know who "you know who presumably" is but it won't be against Edinburgh. John Campbell confirmed that the Monarchs' first match will be on 14 March. So I suppose it will be against Workington. Parker and Kseizak's return is no real surprise although you have to wonder why it took Parker so long to agree to re-sign. Presumably that leaves the way clear now for Glasgow to sign Dicken and Beaton with replacements probably needed for Watson (unless the plan is for him to return too) and Coles. Will Parker's nickname change from Messiah to Methuselah this year?

Come on Merlin me old mate . Despite an offer from one of the south of England's finest - Scotland's premier Speedway outfit has managed to hold onto the most exciting rider to grace our small country for many a year . So when you roll up at the " stadium of mince " next year - watch and learn from the master , as it's the nearest you'll get to a superstar . ;D

So when you roll up at the " stadium of mince " next year - watch and learn from the master , as it's the nearest you'll get to a superstar . ;D Well I guess that he might well have decided that the bird in the hand was better than the one in the bush since there was no guarantee that he would come to the tapes if he'd signed elsewhere, judging by the current situation. Nah I think your idol's best days are behind him. He obviously wasn't that loyal to the stripes by allegedly considering other offers. Still if Glasgow were able to meet the terms he might have wanted he'll have no need to bust a gut. As for watching him round Aramadale he'll never come close to the sheer class of former Monarchs at the best prepared track in British Speedway like Peter Carr. So there's nothing special to watch in his performances round there. I've seen better many times. You might do well to remember too that one rider doesn't make a team so gawd knows what your lot will do should he be out for any length of time. The words 'hostage to fortune' come to mind. If this is his last year what are you going to write about next year? We suffered big time when we lost Carr, Scott and Schlein after 2003. It ain't pleasant!

Was probably the best move for him seeing as it might be getting a bit late to be included in a team that hasn't even been given the green light

Now that it has been decided new Aussies can come in on a 5.00 average and new EU riders come in on 7.00 . It will be interesting to see if we increase our Aussie contingent in the coming weeks .

But I expect the money aspect of it will have someting to do with it. I hadn't realised that all new Aussies now come in on a 5.00 point average (unless I presume they have British patriality). But do they not still need to meet the Department of Employment's criteria to get a work permit? That, as far as I understand from previous years, means that they have to finish in the top three in a State final.

Yes there possibly is that criteria to meet , but promoters have agreed to let Aussies and other Commonwealth riders in on a 5 average .
