Bit of a mystery this week at the Scottish centre of speedway excellence . Who will be riding against us ? I'll look at our position first - Wee Davie McAllan has declared himself fit and ready to go after missing last week , but we will be missing Robert Ksiezak who is reserve at the World under 21s in Poland . So it will be r/r for Robert . So apart from that it will be along usual lines i.e. Messiah maximum , Wato dodgy 1st ride then unbeaten and Big Lee thrilling the crowd with bursts round the boards . As for poor old Berwick - well dunno who will turn out for them . I'm presuming the weirdity and Burza are fit and available , think Bergstrom rode the other evening in Sweden and i'm assuming Pijper isn't away long-tracking or whatever it is he does on a Sunday . Add to that young Martin - so that could be 5 riders , but other than that who knows . Anyway one follower of the Bandits ( well the Polish ones anyway ) will receive a warm Glaswegian welcome for his first visit to the Messiahdome . ;D

Now, now, now, young heathen, don't get yourself carried away - he may be the Messiah, but I rather think he'll have to settle for second best behind the Weirdity.

Pijper sacked , Bergstrom sacked again , Matej Kus brought into the side along with John Morrison ( who apparently is injured ) . If memory serves me correctly , Berwick tried to use Morrison at Glasgow in the PT and couldn't cause he didn't have a license . Berwick also using the young Finn , who the Monarch's keep telling us is one for the future ( but dont say at what ) , Kalle Katajisto nil . Chance for a fat wage packet for the Tigers riders methinks .

He made some decent starts for a change last night and won a race in a very respectable time. He also was in the mix in two others - he passed Stancl in his second ride before coming to grief on the third bend. If he makes a gate he could well finish in front of the two fat old men tomorrow. I don't think Berwick will get away with John Morrison. He's still injured - I believe he broke his back! You can't redeclare a team with a rider who was not in the previous declaration and who is out injured. It may be a ploy to use a Conference League guest in his place which would be all that they're allowed. I also think too much is being made of Berwick signing Matej Kus. In time maybe he'll be the bees knees but shoving him into this Berwick team at this stage of the season is asking one hell of a lot. I gather he won the Heathersfield Classic at Glasgow some time ago but that was a juniors competition was it not? No matter how good riders look in these events it's a different thing when they have to face the big boys and, boy, do Glasgow have some big....err.... boys! (if you pardon the mis-use of the word 'boys')

I'm sorry young Merlin, but didn't the Monarchs sign a 16-year-old Finn who'd hardly ridden a 500cc bike to be in the main body of their team? This very same Finn won a race in a meaningless fixture between Heathens and Convicts at Armadale last evening, which seems the basis for your suggestion that he'll spring a surprise at Ashfield tomorrow.

Cant see young Katajisto scoring too many tomorrow even if , as you say , he did ok in Friday's kiddy-on meeting . I think he still could do with maybe a couple more seasons at our feeder track before the Tigers start enquiring about him .

It seems that you and Paulco are determined to undermine anything which was achieved last night at Armadale because it was not an official meeting. The fact of the matter is that neither of you were there and didn't see for yourselves how good a meeting it was and how well Katajisto rode. Well you are the losers! There were plenty of us who did enjoy it, particularly the manner in which young Katajisto won heat 14 and passed George Stancl in a previous heat. It was something we hadn't seen from him before. However it seems that because it wasn't a league match with the outstanding quality of rider of the calibre that Berwick, Sheffield etc bring to Armadale that it had to be rubbish entertainment. You imply that the riders weren't bothering much - have a look at the heat times and you'll find the truth. Unfortunately because you weren't there you won't be able to appreciate the excellent racing the match threw up. Maybe if we hold a similar event in future we should book in riders of a better quality than Kevin Doolan, Shane Parker and James Wright to supplement the home guys. Why the cynicism? What's the problem? Are you annoyed the meeting was a success? Would you have been happier if the entertainment had been as dire as tomorrow's at Ashfield is likely to be?

No need to be so touchy mate . I couldn't care less if the meeting was a success or not - or whether the racing was good or not . I just refuse to entertain these nothing meetings . You were at the Glasgow 60th anniversary meeting - how dire was that . As was Shane's testimonial . After the 60th meeting i vowed then i wouldn't go to any old crap fed to me by promoters just cause they've a space in the fixtures . Why couldn't last night have been the Scottish Cup ? Tomorrow might indeed be a poor meeting , but at least it means something .

Tomorrow might indeed be a poor meeting , but at least it means something . Oh really? What exactly? I thought you relished good racing no matter what the score or the event. I'll tell you what disappoints me though. Last night the promotion needed a fixture filler to ensure that the season ticket holders weren't short-changed with too small a number of fixtures due to our poor season resulting in no progress in the Premier Trophy, KO Cup and probably Young Shield. It's also their policy to do their utmost to ensure continuity on Friday nights. They know only too well that if you have too many blank race-nights crowds will find something else to do and some of them won't come back - a fact of life I'm afraid and I wonder what Glasgow's views are on that given the number of Sunday meetings they've missed for one reason or another. They arranged this challenge match knowing that it was likely they would lose money so they booked in Kevin Doolan, Shane Parker and James Wright amongst others and arranged sponsorships to help cover the costs. Now I'm not a fan of fixture-fillers either but credit where it's due. If you like exciting speedway races there were enough of them last night to satisfy even the most critical. The crowd was much better than I thought they'd get and the racing far better than some visitors have produced at Armadale this season in official fixtures. So I give the Edinburgh promotion credit for getting it right. The winners were those who did attend. You won't find many who were not satisfied. What I think is unfair is the assumption by some that this was just a load of rubbish not worthy of attendance. Unless you were there you won't understand how far off the mark that is. More than that it was quite a fun night with Parker, Doolan and company trying their hand at the bagpipes and didgeridoo which was actually quite amusing as Parker and Wethers had quite a bit of success with both. Doesn't sound much does it? But believe me we all had a good laugh - it reminded me of the days when Ian Hoskins pulled off these stunts at Old Meadowbank. It all added up to a good night.

Good i'm glad you enjoyed it . All i'm saying is these types of meetings aren't for me . But there are plenty of folk that like them - whatever floats your boat .
Oh and what exactly tomorrow means is another 3 points towards a top 8 finish .

I see the injury curse strikes again with Kus withdrawing after his third ride with mild concussion, and a foot injury for Burza.
