Over the past few days the forum has been troubled by a spate of messages that have not reflected the real purpose of what The Weird World of Speedway is meant for. The board server, Proboards, have emphasised that the forum was not as I suspected hacked.
Rather does it all go back to when the forum was first established - around the mid 1990s and before I took charge about three years ago. One main fault was that the original establishment allowed not only members to Post messages but also for Guests to use the site. It has been use of the Guest facility which has resulted on a spate of contradictory Posts on the group - mainly designed one suspects to cause anger and concern to myself.
Now, with Proboards guidance and settings membership has been tightened and only allows this group's staff and registered members to Post messages. At present, some of the offensive messages are still appearing on the group - the latest are from Jack Keen (2), Mason Wear, and gustix.
These are also names used in membership applications currently in this group's section where such are held prior to approval or rejection. Again, the original forum allowed membership applications to directly enter the forum - now they go into a special file for consideration by the group's Moderation to determine approval or rejection.
At the moment, there are six 'strange' applications to join The Weird World of Speedway - all with the same IP address. When a member now enters The Weird World of Speedway they will see a format as shown in the Link and information as to what is happening in regard to forum boards. To view these boards one now has to LOG-IN or REGISTER your entry in the usual style - and all will be revealed. Thank you for your attention.
