FORMER Newcastle star Christian Henry is building up to his Testimonial meeting at Brough Park on Sunday.
Henry decided to hang up his race-suit after a nasty crash last year saw him suffer a serious back injury, bringing to an end a 15-year British career with most of that time spent with the Diamonds.
Henry has put together a Four Team Tournament with teams representing the four clubs he has ridden for, with junior races and appearances from several riders from the past planned. The meeting starts at the earlier time of 3pm.
Newcastle boss George English said: “It will be a really entertaining meeting and it’s fantastic to pay tribute to a rider that has earnt over 2,000 points for the Diamonds and I hope a good crowd is there to support him.”Attachments:

NEWCASTLE have been hit by the news that Finnish International Tero Aarnio has to undergo an operation on his troublesome knee injury - which will rule him out of this weekend and for the foreseeable future.
Aarnio, such a crucial link in the Diamonds’ septet, has been plagued by the knee problem all season, failing to complete matches by being medically withdrawn. Newcastle co-promoter Alan Hedley said: “Tero was so looking forward to this season and this is a big blow to him personally as well as the team.
“We will have to use rider replacement for him this weekend but George English and I will have to seriously assess the situation, as it would be unfair to put too much pressure on our reserves.
“Whether we bring in a short-term replacement or a longer-term solution depends on the availability of riders and the length of time that Tero will be out for, which at the moment is not known.”

From the SGB website: :: NEWCASTLE have revealed their starting septet for their SGB Championship challenge – with their top two of Robert Lambert and Steve Worrall both back with the club.
Skipper Ludvig Lindgren, youngster Danny Phillips and late-season signing Ashley Morris also return, along with Lewis Rose who missed the closing stages of 2016 due to injury, and they are joined at reserve by Connor Coles who raced for Mildenhall in recent National League campaigns.
Manager George English said: “We knew Steve was more than likely to return, but when we heard the completely unexpected news that Robert was also available to us we had to move fast and secure him to run with the best top two in our league once again.
“But in doing so, we've had to make some agonisingly tough decisions to dispense with Matej Kus, which was a truly awful task, while Victor Palovaara was also a name we could not hire for 2017.
“The rule changes haven't played into our hands, but we're not the only team to have cause to lose valued racing staff, so we're all in the same boat, but we are happy with our final choice of seven, although our options were very wide indeed.”
