LEICESTER have completed the signing of experienced former Polish international Sebastian Ulamek.
The 40-year-old returns to British speedway after a two-year absence, having last appeared for Lakeside in 2013.
Ulamek has also had previous spells with Wolverhampton, King’s Lynn, Oxford, Coventry, Swindon and Birmingham, and his arrival means the Lions need just one more rider to complete their team.
Promoter David Hemsley said: “We are delighted to have secured such a quality rider as Seb who will bring a wealth of experience and a new dimension to the side, as the team is shaping up to have a more even spread of scoring throughout this year where everyone is capable of winning races.”www.speedwaygb.co/news.php?extend.30030Attachments:

On the SGB site: :::::::: LIONS ARE COMPLETE
MONDAY FEBRUARY 15, 2016
LEICESTER have completed their line-up with the signing of former Danish Under-21 Champion Patrick Hougaard for a second spell with the club.
Hougaard rode for the Lions in the early weeks of the 2014 campaign before electing to take time out of British speedway following a crash at Coventry which left him with a broken thumb.
He said: “I’m excited to be back racing in the UK again. Leicester are racing (on) Saturdays which fits my racing schedule perfect.
“I have ridden for Leicester before but this time I feel a lot more confident, especially after a good season in 2015. David (Hemsley) has been good to deal with, the team looks solid and I’m sure we will have a great year.”

On the SGB website: LEICESTER have been boosted by the agreement of a main team sponsorship deal with crushing and screening company Paul Chapman and Sons Ltd.
The business was founded in 1982 offering services to customers on site along with recycling activities at their yard based in Spondon, Derbyshire – and Chapman is a speedway supporter.
He said: “Sport has played a big part in my life. I followed the Lions in the first era at the old Blackbird Road Stadium and I was naturally pleased when speedway returned to the city in 2011.
“We are very much looking forward to working with the club and wish the team every success this season.”

From the SGB website::: ::::::::: LEICESTER have been rocked by the loss of Szymon Wozniak for their upcoming schedule on the insistence of his Polish club.
Wozniak, who had not missed an Elite League fixture since joining the Lions last year, was required to attend practice for Wroclaw instead of racing in home and away matches against Lakeside this weekend.
Leicester boss Norrie Allan said: “It is an unsatisfactory situation that we have been placed under that is of no fault of Leicester Speedway or the rider.
“We have reported the circumstances we find ourselves in to the BSPA who in turn have escalated the matter to the global governing body of motorcycle racing, but we are led to believe that Wroclaw are standing firm on their decision.
“Szymon has told me he wants to ride for Leicester because he doesn’t want to let the fans down but is unable to go against the instructions of his Polish club. We have also received a communication that his start permission has been removed which means that he cannot ride in this country for Leicester in the foreseeable future.
“We of course want to see Szymon back in the team as quickly as possible but may have to look at what options are available to us in the short term.”

From the SGB website: :::::::::::: LEICESTER have moved to sign Swedish racer Ludvig Lindgren, subject to approval by the BSPA.
The 25-year-old impressed Lions bosses during his guest performance against Swindon earlier this month and will now double-up with the Midlands outfit whilst continuing to ride for Newcastle in the Premier League as well.
Lindgren comes in for Australian Davey Watt who leaves the club after just six appearances for the Lions.
Team manager Norrie Allan said: "I really thought that the move to Leicester would help Davey reignite his passion and desire once again.
"Sadly for us and Davey it has not happened and as much as we wanted to give him time to rediscover heat-leader form it just hasn’t worked out for either party.
“I was pleased with Ludvig’s commitment and general all-round approach to the match against Swindon; he weighed up the track in an instant and found the best racing lines."

SGB PRESS RELEASE :::::::::: LEICESTER have cancelled their final Elite League match of the season against King’s Lynn on Saturday.
The fixture has twice been postponed due to rain and was again put back earlier in the month due to rider unavailability, but it will now not take place.
Lions co-promoter Dave Darcy said: “It is no secret that the club is in financial difficulty and to stage the meeting will incur additional costs which will only add to the present situation we find ourselves in.
“After careful consideration of the facts the only sensible option was to cancel the meeting much to our regret.
"The decision has not been taken lightly and on behalf of the management team I offer our sincere apologies to our fans, sponsors, business partners, riders and staff.
“Our fans have supported the team brilliantly throughout the season and I am sure that the news will be a huge disappointment to them as much as it is to everyone within the club.”

From the SGB website: :::: LEICESTER have announced David Darcy will take over the running of the club as they prepare for the 2017 SGB Premiership season.
Darcy has been a co-promoter of the Lions for the last four seasons and now takes over the running of the business after former owner David Hemsley relinquished control.
Darcy said: “I’m pleased that I am still involved and am looking forward to the challenge of bringing success to Leicester.
“I am conscious that it has been many weeks of worry and uncertainty for our fans concerning the future of the Lions and I would like to place on record my gratitude to Keith Chapman who has worked tirelessly behind the scenes to save the club, and he is pleased to continue giving his advice and support.
“We will soon be announcing who will be representing Leicester next season as we are now opening contract discussions with riders who we believe will help us turn the club around. If we are able to secure their signatures then I am sure that we will have a competitive team that will do justice to Leicester Speedway.”Attachments:

From the SGB?BSPA website: :::::: LEICESTER have been taken over by Damien Bates – who has bought the lease to run the SGB Premiership club from Keith Chapman.
Bates, who will retain his position at the helm of Championship side Sheffield, will work alongside existing Lions promoter David Darcy at Beaumont Park with home meetings continuing to be staged on Saturday nights.
Bates said: “I accept that we are now only weeks away from the start of the new season and so our main priority is to quickly form a team that is the best competitive seven riders we can assemble.
“I can confirm that we have already opened talks with several riders about racing for the Lions and we should be in a position to announce the first signings any day now.
“I am aware that Leicester went through a difficult trading period last season and I will be doing everything possible to ensure that the club is placed on a sound financial footing that secures the future of Leicester Speedway for years to come.
“I expect to expand the management team in the next two weeks which of course will include the appointment of a team manager.”

From the SGB/BSPA website: ::: LEICESTER have commenced team-building under their new management with the signings of Kim Nilsson and Josh Auty.
Swedish star Nilsson (pictured) joins the Lions having spent the majority of his British career with Lakeside, who are now in the National League, whilst Auty will be going into his third year at Beaumont Park in addition to his SGB Championship team place with Scunthorpe.
Nilsson said: “It’s a shame Lakeside could not continue in the top league as I expected to stay there to start with. I could not see any other option at the moment I was informed about their decision to move down until I got asked by Leicester if I wanted to ride there.
“From that moment it really felt like an opportunity for me to try something new. I had a great season at Lakeside last year but I think changing track and just doing something different will help me to continue my progress in speedway.
“I am now really looking forward to riding for Leicester and doing what I can to make sure the club reach their goals and put on a good show for the crowd.”Attachments:
