So, the Turbo Twins (who the hell coined that particularly sad phrase) have signed for Poole: www.poolepirates.co/news.php?extend.411Of course, events in January might bring Poole's team building plans crashing down. At the minute speedway is a bit like that famous episode of Fawlty Towers ... you know, the one with the Germans. It's a case of "don't mention the trial". I mentioned it once on the Lakeside forum and thought I'd got away with it, but, oh no, the censors were there in a flash. Oh you can talk to your heart's desire about legal cases against Tomasz Gollob and Tomasz Bajerski in Poland, but a legal case against Darcy Ward is hush hush. The hope seems to be that if it's ignored it will go away. Sad reflection on the way the sport is run in this country.

I'm still confused as to why the trial cannot be mentioned on the BSF. There isn't the money in speedway to place a super-injuction. Fair enough, we shouldn't name the 17-year-old (even though anyone can google the Aussie press report in about 30 seconds ). But he-who-can-be-named is 19 years old.

I'm still confused as to why the trial cannot be mentioned on the BSF. It can only really be in case 'the-one-who-cannot-be-named' is named. In the UK, it is of course generally considered to be poor form to speculate on the guilt or innocence of a defendant before the trial, but they do it all the time in the US. If there were a legal prohibition on this in the UK, then why was the Liz McColgan thread not pulled as the usually acerbic observant Paulco actually wrote "She's a husband beater, does she deserve charity ?" before she was acquitted...
