I don't suppose that will be appearing in BSI's official Grand Prix website. As much as I have disdain for the BSI leeches and their FIM cohorts, I feel having GPs in places like New Zealand is a positive thing for the sport in those countries (assuming the local tracks aren't bankrupting themselves to host it). New Zealand is a genuine speedway country and there's very little opportunity to see any sort of top flight speedway there. Whilst I don't see this GP lasting, if Jonsson or his manager don't want to travel there, then why are they taking part in the competition?

I really don't think BSI could stand to lose someone else, especially the runner-up in last year's circus. I personally think it's getting to the stage where the GPs have to start shouldering more of the expense of running the sport's stars. The Rubicon has now been crossed. Alea iacta est.

The New Zealand Grand Prix did survive for its second staging in 2013, while a third will take place in early April this year. But there have been rumblings that this year's meeting could be the last to take place at Western Springs. And while the usual number of overseas spectators are expected at the Grand Prix, there are some worries that New Zealanders may be tempted to stay away to attend a Rolling Stones concert taking place at approximately the same time.

That prediction was proved wrong but now 'jungle drums' in kiwiland sre of the opinion that the 2014 GP will be the last to take place. And there are some worries, it is said, that the local attendance could be affected by the fact that the Rolling Stones have a concert nearby about the same time.
