What do people think would help getting this site more active again?

More updated club pages...I've been good and put a new KL one on, and maybe a few more discussions.....I've feeling positively angelic so I'll start one of those too. Perhaps if we can get a few discussions going without the rancour and downright idiocy on BSF who knows it might become THE place to be

As long as we don't end up with all the downright idiots. It's quite being on a website such as this one where you know the members how to be civil to each other.

Any sort of online forum always seems to start out with like-minded people who can have reasonable discussions. As they grow though, civility seems to go out the window, and eventually the noise-to-signal ratio drives the decent contributors away. The BSF has got pretty dreadful in the past couple of years, and now largely seems to consist of Poole vs Coventry spats, BSI sycophants, and people getting outraged by stories published in the Daily Mail..

In fairness, speedway in this country is heading down the tubes so it's perhaps not so surprising that the level of debate deteriorated. It should all have been sorted out once and for all last winter. But it wasn't. And it still hasn't been. Frankly, it deserves to die ... it has no soul and increasingly no relevance.

So in other words, what you're all saying is that we don't need a load of flash gizmos on here, just some good old-fashioned sensible debate.
It is a shame that for ever good poster on the BSF, there are around 5 to 6 mindless gimboids. You have to trawl through so much rubbish to get to the interesting stuff.
There's quite a lot of discuss at the moment, such as the fact that everything seems to be far from rosy in the SGP (rider withdrawals) / SWC (reduced heats) garden.

And that from the forum administrator! How lovely! I was quite looking forward to this forum getting back to something akin to its old self, but I think I'll be giving it a miss now. Everyone is entitled to an opinion and a forum is exactly the place to be exchanging those, but personally I don't want to read a depressing diatribe like that.

So everyone is not entitled to an opinion then ?

But to misquote Mark Twain, the rumours of British Speedway's death have been greatly exaggerated. People have been predicting the death of British Speedway for longer than I call recall; in fact there's been predictions since before I was even thought about and I'm no spring chicken. Yes, British Speedway is not perfect (far from it), but it wouldn't been surprised to see it outlast the SGP / SWC / that fly-by-night league in Poland.

Do you have any particular forum in mind?

There's quite a lot of discuss at the moment, such as the fact that everything seems to be far from rosy in the SGP (rider withdrawals) / SWC (reduced heats) garden. That's because basically the BSF isn't moderated! It's moderators list shows half a dozen people - apart from the owner and one other, the others seem to have been inactive for months. What it needs is for a determined Mod to contantly delete any off topic items straight away. One recent thread on there supposedly dedicated to problems Australian riders were facing in regard to obtaining visas for entry to the UK in 2014 ended up with a debate about Scottish pound notes! You get answers like "whoosh" and so forth. If you are reprimanded by a Mod and attempt to reply there is no response from the Forum. One is just seemingly ignored by the forum owner - as I see it.

If "idiots" start posting on this forum, send them a PM to stop, delete their comment, then if they persist warn them again saying that a repeat of the action will see them removed from this forum.
