Poole have signed European Under-19 Champion Dennis Andersson - who becomes the first confirmed name on their 2011 teamsheet.
The 19-year-old has been closely tailed by promoter Matt Ford following his performances for his Swedish club Lejonen and Wroclaw in Poland, and comes into the Pirates' line-up on a four-point assessed average.
Ford said: "I think the Poole fans will warm to Dennis, he has a lot of potential and I think he is ready to take on Elite league racing here in Britain. I have had him on my wanted list for a while and was delighted that we were able to agree terms and that he wanted to come over to ride for Poole.
"Whilst the final team for 2011 is far from finalised, as I continue to evaluate all the permutations, Dennis fits the bill ideally which is why I am delighted to make him our first signing for the forthcoming campaign."

Russian international Renat Gafurov moved a step closed to completing his deal with Poole after passing the English test needed to secure his work permit. Pirates co-promoter Matt Ford is relieved to have overcome the huge hurdle, but admits the Speedway World Cup star is still not ready to put pen to paper. He told the club’s official website: “We still have a way to go yet in this long and thorough process that needs to be followed. “But with Renat passing the English examination, it does mean he has climbed a rung on the ladder. “We hope the application for his work permit continues in this manner. I know that he is very keen to come and ride for us and I do believe he will be warmly received by the Poole fans once the formalities have been concluded.” Ford has already signed SGP star Chris Holder, World Under-21 champion Darcy Ward, Australian national team skipper Davey Watt and Swedish junior champion Dennis Andersson. Local hotshot Kyle Newman is also in the side and the club is trying to agree a contract with Polish international Rafal Dobrucki. From www.speedwaygp.com

Ward Injured THURSDAY, 17 MARCH 2011 08:00 Poole Pirates World U-21 Champion Darcy Ward will miss the start of the season after injuring himself while riding motocross. Ward was training with his fellow team mates Davey Watt and Chris Holder, the crash left him with a broken wrist and shoulder and now looks set to miss a large part of the Pirates season. Poole now face a race against time to find a short to mid term replacement with the clubs first meeting against local rivals Eastbourne just three days away (Sunday 20th). Poole owner Matt Ford said the clubs website: “We had the same thing with Chris (Holder) last season. You can’t stop the guys from doing these other disciplines but it is so frustrating when these injuries occur. Darcy was key to our side this year for sure and I just hope it won’t be another 2009 year all over again.” Jason Doyle also injured himself while riding motocross at the end of last season. www.speedway365.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=1944%3Award-injured&catid=298%3Apoole-pirates&Itemid=463

Doyle In For Ward THURSDAY, 17 MARCH 2011 16:50 Poole's owner Matt Ford has moved quickly to bring in Australian Jason Doyle for the injured Darcy Ward. News that Ward was ruled out of the start of of the Elite League season with a broken wrist and shoulder broke this morning and less than eight hours later the club announced that Doyle will step in for his parent club to cover. Ford said to the clubs website: Jason is in the country and was hoping to get a ride this term over here and as our asset it makes sense that we use him. I know that there is a gulf between his average and that of Darcy but those that have heard me speak about Doyley before will know that I do rate the kid and believe he can certainly punch well above his weight.” www.speedway365.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=1947:doyle-in-for-ward&catid=298:poole-pirates&Itemid=463

POOLE: WATT SET TO RIDE ON
MONDAY MARCH 21, 2011
Poole skipper Davey Watt is determined to put his opening ride fall from Sunday behind him and venture on for the Pirates on Wednesday night when Wimborne Road stages its first meeting of the new season.
After leaving the Eastbourne track early on Sunday to undergo x-rays on a leg injury, Watt was relieved to hear the hospital verdict that there was no broken bones sustained, and he will undergo a further fitness test late Wednesday afternoon with the view to declaring himself fit enough to lead the Pirates against the Eagles (7.30pm). Russian Renat Gafurov is also lined up to undertake some extra practice in a bid to confirm his fitness too after he ‘popped his shoulder’ in heat 8 of Sunday’s meeting.
But Matt Ford has revealed that there are doubts concerning Rafal Dobrucki, explaining, “along with Krzystof Cegielski, Rafal is one of the riders’ spokesmen in Poland and with the current dispute over the new silencers he finds himself in a difficult situation. He wants to ride for Poole, he has assured me of that, but with the PZM threatening bans then he is in between a rock and a hard place.”
The PZM have vetoed the new silencers for all their registered riders after protests from the riders themselves that they are deemed unsafe.

I still don't understand how Poole can use R/R for Dobrucki, but Dennis Andersson continuing the fine start to his British career.

Davey Watt 3,3,3,F,0,1' = 10+1 6. Dennis Andersson 3,3,Fx,2,3 = 11 7. Christian Hefenbrock 1,2',2',0 = 5+2 8. Kyle Newman = 0 (Did Not Ride)

It looks like Rafal Dobrucki has got the sack........ Polish racer Rafal Dobrucki is set to be sacked by the Poole Pirates as the silencer row rumbles on.
With the availability of Polish riders outside of their homeland currently in doubt, Ford has opted to bring injured World Under-21 champion Darcy Ward back into his septet.
Australian star Jason Doyle, who replaced Ward when he suffered a broken shoulder and wrist last week, is likely to take Dobrucki’s place on a permanent basis and will also double-up with Rye House.
With Ward still at least two weeks away from a return, Pirates are planning to use rider replacement to cover for him.
Under normal circumstances, R/R is not available to replace riders who have yet to make an appearance for the team this season. But due to the extraordinary circumstances involving the absent Poles, many other clubs could need similar dispensation.
Ford admits he may have no choice but to make the change, just in case the Dorset side suffer any further injury blows.
He told the Bournemouth Daily Echo: “Time is running out. We’re at the 11th hour and I have to make a decision.
“I appreciate Rafal’s position. He’s an excellent rider and a very good man, but he’s still stuck between a rock and a hard place and I have to look out for the club first.
“With Darcy set to return in two weeks, I can’t take any risks, so there’s a chance I will re-declare our team with Jason in it, taking Rafal’s place, and Darcy also back in.
“If I didn’t do that and we took another injury with Rafal still in our one-to-seven, it would be an unacceptable position to be in for a minimum of 28 days before we could change it.”
If Pirates leave Dobrucki in their side, they would have to suspend him for withholding his services and this would have given them an R/R facility for 28 days. But with Ward recovering well, Ford admits bringing him back was the best option.
He added: “Darcy has been in the oxygen chamber a few times and his broken collarbone is healing very quickly. He has to go back to the specialist in 12 days to have the cast removed from his broken wrist and another X-ray.
“If that proves successful, he can make his comeback, thereby only missing one league meeting.
“In the meantime, we could use rider replacement for Darcy, while Jason showed against Eastbourne that he can fill the void.
"He was unlucky to be excluded from one race at Arlington and got paid nine at home.”
