Think I may have found the reason why Tomasz is not bothered about riding in GB . Taken from the Daily Star: TRACK ACE TOMASZ TOPS £1M ABOVE: Poland skipper Tomasz Gollob is the first rider to break through the £1m-a-year pay barrier 3rd February 2010 By Peter OakesYour Shout ( 0 ) POLAND skipper Tomasz Gollob is the first rider to break through the £1m-a-year pay barrier.
The World Cup hero has not raced in Britain since turning out for Ipswich in 2000.
But he’s still rated the highest-paid racer in the world with annual wages last season of £1,038,121.
The figure is based on official on-track earnings in Poland and Sweden but doesn’t take into account his sponsorship deals.
Gollob, 38, is ranked as the ninth highest-paid sportsman in Poland, with F1 ace Robert Kubica No.1 on £3,661,000.
Gollob has been a national hero for more than a decade and finished runner-up in last year’s world championship.
Australian world champion Jason Crump, 34, and Danish rival Nicki Pedersen, 32, are believed to earn in excess of £500,000 a season.
