The ambitious plans for the return of league speedway racing to Leicester have been delayed. A spokesperson for Beaumont Sports Complex Limited revealed that the legal complexities of pulling together all three parties representing speedway, football and cycling for the construction part of the sports complex at Beaumont Park in Beaumont Leys would take longer than originally anticipated.
Beaumont Sports Complex Limited remains fully committed to delivering a speedway venue at Beaumont Park during the 2010 season and will be applying to operate Leicester representative teams and individual speedway meetings next year, prior to committing to formal league entry.
The project has received the full backing from Leicester City Council throughout its design and planning process and as a consequence it is hoped that the lease negotiations will be completed in the very near future to allow the construction of the new sports facilities early in the new-year. Leicester City Council’s Planning Committee had approved the scheme in August for the multi-sports centre to be built, and since approval of the planning application was granted, the consortium of partners responsible for developing the site have been working closely together to negotiate the detailed terms and conditions of the scheme and this will continue to allow the development to proceed promptly.Courtesy www.leicester-speedway.co.uk

Thursday night's no good for me sadly. As a neutral, it's just horrible watching the pathetic backbiting and other antics....the majority of meetings are hardly entertaining either for a neutral. At least with a side, I could cheer them on as they come out of the trap.
