SAM'S THE MAN
Former World Champion Sam Ermolenko has been unveiled as the new man in charge of Premier League newcomers Leicester.
The American, crowned World Champion in 1993, two years before the SGP series was launched, was introduced to supporters at a well-attended celebration party on Saturday night.
He will now oversee construction of the new track at Beaumont Park in time for next season - and assemble a team for Leicester's return after 27 years in the wilderness.
Ermolenko, a Wolverhampton legend and current Sky Sports TV pundit, said: “I am honoured to be associated with such a proud heritage and look forward to making the Lions worthy ambassadors for the city of Leicester.”
Ermolenko's official title is Sporting Director, with former World Cycle Speedway champion David Hemsley named as the new Leicester promoter.

A good 'icon' to spearhead but still no idea where the finance is coming from.

Glad to see the Lions back. Am quite looking forward to visiting, hopefully on a southern tour next year. Hopefully Sam can have a lot of influence and they will have a good first season.
