Speedway is run a bit like a franchise, and in a franchise those who invest the most would expect to benefit the most. I believe that some IMG events are up for 'auction'.....certainly Gorzow outbid other Polish tracks and are staging round one of the SWC. Maybe round two was 'auctioned' in a similar way and the Chapman's outbid Ric Frost? I do however agree that the losers in all this are the fans, and the EoES would have been a better venue (assuming you sat in the grandstand).

Zonkers, Scottish Football holds its big events at Hampden Park, a lower league venue. Well....that's the Scots for you..... Genghis is taking the p, Zonks, Scotland play at their main stadium Hamden park, which is sub let to Queens Park for league games. Of course if Wembley built a track at the new stadium in Speedways heartland, no-one would object to KL coming down to ride there and benefit from the culture and sophistication the Capital has to offer.

World number two Tomasz Gollob will once again spearhead Poland’s charge for honours in 2010, after national coach Marek Cieslak named his provisional squad.
Gollob will be joined in the senior team by fellow Grand Prix stars Rune Holta and Jaroslaw Hampel, and last term’s World Championship regulars Sebastian Ulamek and Grzegorz Walasek.
SGP series reserve Piotr Protasiewicz is also picked, along with Krzysztof Kasprzak, Adrian Miedzinski, Wieslaw Jagus, Janusz Kolodziej and Rafal Dobrucki.
The reigning Speedway World Cup champions begin their defence of the title at Gorzow on July 24, when they tackle Russia, Denmark and a qualifier in Event One.
Poland will also bid to remain unbeaten in the World Under-21 Team Cup, which they have lifted every year since the competition was founded in 2005.
Cieslak recalls four members of last season side which triumphed in the final at Gorzow, as Poole newcomer Artur Mroczka, Przemyslaw Pawlicki, Maciej Janowski and Dawid Lampart all return.
They will be joined by Slawomir Musielak, Patryk Dudek, Szymon Wozniak, Szymon Kielbasa, Pawel Zmarzlik, Kacper Gomolski, Slawomir Pyszny, Rafal Fleger, Emil Pulczynski, Borys Miturski and Damian Sperz.
This year’s final will take place on the tight and testing Rye House track on September 4, which means Britain join the defending champions in qualifying automatically for the meeting.
With the Lions likely to have SGP star and former Rockets rider Tai Woffinden in their ranks, plus Lewis Bridger and Joe Haines, the home nation could end Poland’s dominance of the competition. The last paragraph is rather amusing. speedwaygp.com

Team Great Britain manager Rob Lyon says Scott Nicholls is firmly in his thoughts for this summer’s Speedway World Cup, despite leaving the Ipswich star out of his 2009 plans.
The five-time British champion was left out of the squad after suffering a nightmare start to his Grand Prix and league season.
Despite being eliminated from the World Championship after finishing 15th overall with 45 points, his domestic form picked up following a return to home town club Ipswich.
But his resurgence came too late for Nicholls to retain his Team GB spot, as Lyon opted to experiment with the nation’s youngsters and give the likes of Lewis Bridger and Danny King their SWC debuts.
Speaking in last week’s Speedway Star, Nicholls said he was not happy with how his omission had been handled. Lyon admits he could have done things differently with the Coventry asset, but says the rider is back on board for 2010.
Lyon, who is staging a training session with some of his squad today, said: “We had a chat a couple of weeks ago and I think we both could have done things differently. Scott pretty much said that himself.
“I think there are a lot of positives that came out of last year. But there are also things we made mistakes on and there is always room for improvement. The key is when you make a mistake to make sure you put it right next time.
"We didn’t do everything right, but we made a lot of major strides. With Scott back in the fold, hopefully we can make an impact this year.”
Lyon also opted to drop seasoned SWC rider Lee Richardson from his five-man team for Event Two at Peterborough. The former Lakeside rider returned to the fold for the Race-Off at Leszno, scoring a stunning 17 points.
While the King’s Lynn boss has no regrets about giving Britain’s younger riders their opportunity on the world stage, he says every rider will have a fair crack at earning a spot in his final five this summer.
He said: “Obviously all the guys will earn their place on merit. From my point of view, I feel I have a committed squad of riders, who want to be involved and want the best for their country.
“If the more established riders are on-form and they’re up for it, then it’s going to be a tough, tough decision to know who to pick. But we’ll pick the right side for the conditions and look at it nearer the time.”www.speedwaygp.com

It seems Hancock didn't ride - maybe due to his Polish commitments today??
Good to see Kake doing so well with a badly injured hand. He had it on ice all night on Friday, and was praying that it wouldn't swell overnight.

Who should be in Team England for the World Cup, i have four names but not sure about the fifth.
SCOTT NICHOLLS LEE RICHARDSON CHRIS HARRIS EDWARD KENNETT
I'm leaning towards Ben Barker, but of course it could be Lewis Bridger, Danny King or Simon Stead.......
What does everyone else think? who should be 5th on Bobbys team sheet ?

As far as I can see, four names virtually pick themselves:
Scott Nicholls Chris Harris Lee Richardson Tai Woffinden
Beyond that, it's horses for courses. I do remember Ben Barker being very, very fast around the Norfolk Arena, so maybe he should be in. Joe Haines also needs to be under serious consideration. And I would imagine Danny King likes the track.
Can't see Edward Kennett being any good around King's Lynn - not his sort of track.
