Final - Tuesday 29th SeptemberVargarna v Lejonen Final - Wednesday 30th SeptemberLejonen v Vargarna What an exciting final - we have last year's Elitserien winners versus last year's Allsvenskan winners in a replay of the Round 18 fixture earlier this month, which Vargarna won on aggregate, 103-89. But Lejonen will be more determined in the fight to retain their title than they were when the two met in the league fixture, and Vargarna will no doubt show the same spirit they've recently found, and will be boosted by having beaten (an albeit weakened) Vetlanda. Looking forward to next week, when the Elitserien winner will be decided. Come on you Lions.

Vargarna v Lejonen
Vargarna:
1..A Miedzinski 2..A Shields 3..S Nicholls 4..A Skornicki 5..K Kasprzak 6..K Nilsson 7..T Woffinden 8..J Andersson
Lejonen:
1..N Pedersen 2..D Ruud 3..M Max 4..P Swiderski 5..C Holder 6..A Gothberg 7..D Watt 8..C Ago
Kim Nilsson reckons a 15 point lead will see Vargarna in good stead for the return leg, whilst David Ruud and Davey Watt will both have to improve on their recent performances if the Lions are to have any hope of winning the final.

Mechanical gremlins for Nicki P, and poor performances from the erratic David Ruud and Mikael Max mean it'll be hard work for the Lions to claw back the defecit in front of their home fans tonight, especially if Kasprzak has a better night.
Teams for tonight are the same, although the riding order has changed slightly.
Lejonen:
1..N Pedersen 2..M Max 3..D Ruud 4..C Holder 5..P Swiderski 6..D Watt 7..C Ago 8..A Gothberg
Vargarna:
1..A Miedzinski 2..A Shields 3..S Nicholls 4..A Skornicki 5..K Kasprzak 6..T Woffinden 7..K Nilsson 8..J Andersson

A 62-34 win for the Lions means they hold on to the title of Elitserien winners, with an aggregate score of 104-88. For Lejonen, a much better performance from David Ruud, who does seem to be the Swedish equivalent of Leigh Lanham, and solid scores from the heatleaders had the Wolves in trouble early on. Vargarna were a two man team, with only Woffinden (14 from 6) and Miedzinski (12 from 6) scoring what they are capable of. But although they'll be dejected at the loss of the meeting, they have had a brilliant season overall. Results from this year can all be found in the fixtures section: subedei.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=fix&action=display&thread=2639And that completes this year's Swedish action. Thanks to everyone who's joined in, and hope to see you all next year.

I'm not too pleased about the final series, were all the talk was of the two tracks on which the final was contested. Vargarnas Kråkvilan came in for some very heavy criticism because of it's smallness and awkwardness, while Lejonen much too easily turned a heavy deficit around at their own place.
I realise there will ofcourse always be home advantage in speedway, but this was just unbelievable. How can a side get soundly beaten one night, and then easily turn it around at home. It's just no good for the sport because you will stop talking about riders and how they perform, because the feeling will be any shitty riders who happens to be home track experts will beat good riders on that track. Perhaps it's time for some sort of standardisations, or perhaps this is some "charming" aspect of the sport I fail to see.
Anyhow, Lejonen did come good at the right time and Vargarna has set a new shining example for other clubs to follow in making the final with probably the cheapest squad in all the league. All in all, Lejonen were deserving champions.
