There were rumblings going around after Copenhagen, and an article in www.racemcsport.com goes into more detail. I think this comes from the Speedway Star. It doesn't say who, but apparently there has been speculation that Emil is running a 600cc engine, but his chief mechanic, Ashley Holloway, has said this is categorically untrue, and that had Emil made the final in Denmark they would have apporached the organisers to test his engines to prove his innocence. He has also had a carburettor tested, and that passed with no problems. Holloway goes on to say that it's only jealousy behind these allegations, but if he's the same guy they interviewed during the GP he's not exactly endeared himself to me with his comments about Nicki P. We all know that average manipulation and exploiting loop-holes in the rules goes on, but is it even possible to cheat with machinery or fuel these days? That would be picked up by the authorities, wouldn't it? |

It is jealousy. Whoever has accused him just can't make out how a young guy can be riding so well. They should look back at his history.

One rider equalled the track record in Copenhagen. And it wasn't Emil Sajfutdinov. But no one is questioning Jason Crump's performances, are they?
People are just being silly and not taking into account one key factor in the Sajfutdinov success story. Sajfutdinov has the Rickardsson team around him. That gives him an edge. People don't realise the importance of the team around a rider in the GPs. The reason that the same old faces dominate in the GPs is in large part the infrastructure around them.
Newcomers struggle to compete on that basis.

The one with the most world championships, obviously. But Crumpie seems well on his way to World Title No. 3 I still think Grand Prix rounds won is a more accurate way to judge a rider's worth - and few would argue that Mark Loram is a better rider than Tomasz Gollob. |

Pure jealousy towards the new wonder kid on the block.
Wouldn't be surprised if the rumours stemmed from the Pedersen camp, sure there's still bad feeling between Pedersen & Holloway after they worked together a few years back. Didn't Ash quit mid-season due to Pedersens increasing temper tantrums?

It would be interesting to know how in-depth and thorough the inspection of bikes at SGP, SWC and indeed league meetings are. Personally I have a feeling the inspections at Elitserien-meetings are not that thorough, based on the fact that they are done very fast. But I really have no idea.
I seriously doubt that mechanical cheating happens, at least not in bigger meetings. But as Ashley Holloway says, at Parken and other small contemporary tracks, you try to kill the engines rather than beef them up.

That was really my reason for starting the thread - I wondered if cheating in any capacity was possible, and what sort of checks the riders and bikes go through. Do the riders have random drug tests, are all bikes checked for legalities before and after the meeting, or just one or two - that sort of thing.

I understand steroids etc for runners. But surely a rider cannot improve his performance with drugs.

Surely there are drugs that make you focus your mind like a laserbeam, prevents you from tiring or something useful like that - which ofcourse would not be allowed. |
