Following their mammoth defeat at the hands of reigning champions the Edinburgh Monarchs, Newcastle team manager Richard Juul has given all seven Diamonds a warning that they are now "riding for their places": www.newcastlespeedway.net/news/article.asp?id=207It all seems rather unfair on Kenni Larsen, about whom I haven't heard anything other than praise. The few Babas I spoke with last evening remarked on his promise and the Monarchs Chatzone contributors have also singled him out for praise.

But surely this is the Diamonds team that was "hand picked" by the man himself,Juul.Could it be that Juul and the Newcastle promotion have assembled a poor team.

I believe it is the "hand-picked" team of Richard Juul - maybe his management skills match his ability on the speedway bike, which, facing facts, weren't very good. Good riders don't become "cult figures" (except for His Holiness the Weirdity, of course (and the Weirdity's cult is very small - a cult of one, in fact), that role is the preserve of "joke" riders. But I didn't think Newcastle had assembled a poor side - I thought they had a decent looking outfit. It looks as if I was wrong.

Ive seen Newcastle twice this season, against Berwick, since those meetings the wheels have come off big time.Home defeats to Redcar and Sheffield and a hammering at Edinburgh have left the Diamonds looking in a sorry mess.Team changes are all well and good but are there riders out there that can make things any better. Mr.Rempala would never go to the dark side after being a Bandit would he ?.

Mr.Rempala would never go to the dark side after being a Bandit would he ?. He has better things to do on a Sunday, such as ride for Lublin in Poland.
