At Wolverhampton's annual pre-season talk-in last night, promoter Chris Van Straaten announced that he plans to stand down as promoter of Wolverhampton at the conclusion of his 25th season.
He would like to reach the silver anniversary mark and enter the record books as longest serving Wolves promoter, a mark he does not think will ever be beaten.
It was also announced that Sam Ermolenko will play a more prominent role in the coming season after lengthy discussions with CVS on Wednesday. A name for his job role has not yet been devised, CVS commenting that "Sam has gone away to think of a name for himself!"
This is without doubt good news for Wolves fans as Sam's influence in the pits is second to none. I think its safe to say that CVS will not be paying any silly wages akin to BSI at Reading!

A name for his job role has not yet been devised, CVS commenting that "Sam has gone away to think of a name for himself!" Now, is that entirely wise? I mean, given his "Suddenness'" ability to mangle the language, heaven only knows what sort of a name he'll come up with, left to his own devices. Director of buddiness, perhaps?

No, CVS runs the show still. He chooses the riders, pays the wages etc. Peter Adams just manages the team.
As for Sam, despite his 'different' commentary style, his success at motivating riders and getting them to perform cannot be argued with, especially when it comes to Wolves. His absence from the scene in recent years is in my opinion one of the main factors in our recent struggles.

You certainly argue with it if you witnessed that pukeworthy dressing room scene from Reading on Sky.

How well have things moved on since this thread started more than six years ago. As it is speedway they have probably got worse rather than improved?
