Hats off to Rob Lyon.......he's picked the right team there, and they will give 100%. We may not win, well to be honest we won't win, but at least they'll give their all and be entertaining too. I totally support his selection, good on him!!

They'll get mullered over 25 Showground heats but anyone we put out would so nothing to lose I suppose. Kennett panicking for 60 seconds (or however long it takes the opposition to get by) is always good value should he hit the front.

As much as its a brave selection I was suprised to see Richardson out for the EOES. Couple of weeks ago he was very fast all night against the Panthers, came close a couple of times to breaking the track record.

Panthers promoter can't wait for a magical Monday
PANTHERS bosses are bracing themselves for one of the biggest-ever attendances for a speedway meeting in the city. More than 3,000 advance tickets have already been sold for Event Two of the Speedway World Cup at the East of England Showground on Monday.
The grandstand is a complete sell-out and a crowd in excess of 5,000 is expected for a mouthwatering night of racing action.
It will be the biggest turnout since the city club’s famous Elite League Grand Final triumph in 2006 when they defeated Reading Bulldogs to lift the title in front of a huge crowd.
And Bratley (pictured right) reckons merely being selected to stage the high-profile meeting underlines how far the club have progressed since owner Rick Frost took charge in August last year.
“It will be brilliant to see so many people at the Showground,” said Bratley.
“We are thrilled to bits with the amount of tickets already sold and we are definitely expecting there to be between five and six thousand people present on Monday.
“It is an honour to stage a round of the World Cup and its a long time since we have held a meeting of such prestige around here.
“The track is in good condition, the staff are enthusiastic and we can’t wait for Monday.
“The club has made some great progress since Rick came in and now the challenge is to show we can stage a meeting of such magnitude.”
Most experts reckon the meeting will boil down to a two-horse race between Australia and Poland, but Bratley doesn’t share that view.
He reckons the men from Down Under will be in a class of their own on the Alwalton shale.
Former Panthers stars Jason Crump and Ryan Sullivan - men regarded as two of the finest-ever riders of the city venue - join skipper Leigh Adams in a seriously strong side.
Coventry man Rory Schlein and Poole ace Chris Holder complete their quintet and Bratley expects them to zoom to victory.
But he is also looking forward to catching up with a member of the Polish side. Piotr ‘Pepe’ Protasiewicz scored 435 points during two seasons with the city club earlier this decade.
“I look at the Australian team and don’t see a single weak link, especially around the Showground,” continued Bratley. “There is no way I can see past a victory for Australia.
“But it will be great to see Pepe at Alwalton again.
“He was a very good rider for the club and is one of the nice guys in the sport.
“I guess you could call him a gentle giant.”

Australia going to need to bring in someone else for Schlein - he's broken his collarbone.

I think it's Watt in for Schlein. And Kasprzak in for Ulamek who has broken his shoulder blade.
Edited to say that someone on the BSF thinks it is Shields in for Schlein.

Going off the changes, I personally feel the Brits may have more success than expected but it's a step in the right direction. For me, it's five riders who you see improving from their current stage of development.
Zagar to be a major spoiler, Crump and Sullivan to be untouched and I don't know why but Poland might have one of those days where they can't be bothered (and shouldn't be really when it would be handy for a meeting's practice at Leszno [unless two replacements for the Danes have inspired moments, you can discount them]).

Edited to say that someone on the BSF thinks it is Shields in for Schlein. The Australians should seriously consider Shields once the action gets to Poland, where Watt hasn't performed well this season while Leszno is the home track of Shields.

Can't see the Brits doing anything better than 3rd, and don't think that would've changed had it been Rico or Nicholls in there as well. Aussies and Poland just have too much strength in depth in the majority of heats. We'll do well to pick up the odd errant second at best. At least Lyons is giving the young guns a shot. Besides, if the weather forecast is as predicted, it may well prove to have been a master stroke from the new manager. Would we have wanted Rico's live on TV paddy MkII there about it being a dodgy track

I guess Olsen will be there, so I doubt Richardson would've had the nerve to throw a wobbler regarding the track - one glance from the uber-golem and the Richardson trap would be well and truly shut.

The Aussies will be picking the side for Leszno from a squad of 6 (Leigh, Jason, Chris, Ryan, Dave and Adam) and will decide after practice in Leszno

I do think Lyon deserves a bit of credit for his team selection. His bollocks are on the block, to a certain degree. But had Middlo still been in charge we'd probably have had the old guard, such as the global superstar, guaranteed places. I think people have to see this season as a bit of a "trial run". It seems to me that getting to the final would be a massive achievement. The team picked is looking 2-3 seasons down the line. New Great Britain boss Rob Lyon believes it may have to be short-term pain for long-term gain with his new-look team for the FIM Tobet Speedway World Cup.
Lyon has selected one of Team GB's youngest-ever line-ups for tonight's meeting on home territory at Peterborough against Australia, Poland and Slovenia.
“We haven't got a world class team and that's not a slight against any individual, it's just the way it is,” said Lyon, who has taken over the reins from Jim Lynch.
“We have three or four youngsters who are not far away and deserve a chance. I think the British public will accept that.
"I'd like to think they will get behind the boys at Peterborough tonight. Why go with the old guard and play safe?
"It may just be a situation of short term pain for long term gain and we may have to go backwards to go forwards.
"I'm hoping we don't, but we have to take that risk. Leaving Scott (Nicholls) and Lee (Richardson) out was not something I took lightly.
"Both are still in the squad at the end of the day and there is a possibility one or both could feature in Poland if we get to Leszno.
"But from March onwards this year regarding team selection it has been in the back of my mind to go with the young guys.”From speedwaygp.com

The start of the meeting is going to be delayed, and at 5:15 it was tipping it down!
