It's something I have always pushed for. To have the likes of Sheffield who clearly run a decent business at PL have a prestige season opener every year. But a 16-rider open meeting is a better way about it.

i'd certainly consider taking the cubs up to sheffield to see Hancock and Gollob... Would be a great curtain raiser...

Yes and Greg Hancock was going to ride in the Poole 60th anniversary meeting last year, wasn't he? But he didn't. And no doubt some mysterious malady will strike him down ahead of this.

Personally, I think all the "missing GP" riders should offer their services, for such a good cause, they can give something back to the sport, and give the fans a chance to see them in action.
Jason is always good at this sort of thing TBH, offering his services.

It looks like it should be a decent meeting. A good idea, central location - pretty good way to start the season off.
I do wonder whether its better to announce the line up as quickly as they can, or leave it until nearer the time... Perhaps depends on what riders there are. Poole may have made a mistake in announcing their line up so far in advance, as it wasn't the most enthralling of line ups, though if Sheffield are getting all the 'top' riders, it should only encourage bigger crowds in advance.

Am I right in thinking this Ben Fund (I hate that expression : is going to be held using the Test Match format, or am I getting confused with another meeting?

Could the Greater Compton make an appearance in this meeting? It appears that in spite of his retirement at the end of last season, Andre Compton is willing to race in testimonial and other open meetings: www.british-speedway.co.uk/news.php?extend.2289
