As if I wasn't happy enough at the news we'd no longer have to endure adverts when the coverage goes to the BBC, this little gem crops up on http://www.planet-f1.com:
The BBC are reportedly preparing to offer Martin Brundle a £1m-a-year salary to host their F1 coverage next season.
According to The Daily Mail, the corporation are intent on hiring Brundle, the highly-respected ITV race pundit, for when their coverage begins next season. However, in an apparent bid to offer a fresh alternative to ITV, the BBC are considering removing Brundle from the commentary booth and appointing him the host of their coverage. In effect, he would be the replacement of Steve Rider.
'The BBC will have to pay more than seven figures-a-year to attract Brundle, who is not only well aware of his own worth but also of the £1million-plus annual salaries paid to soccer studio men Alan Hansen and Gary Lineker,' the Mail reports.
The newspaper also claims that the Beeb want David Coulthard to be one of their pundits - despite the Scot having no experience whatsoever of live broadcasting.
Brundle and Coulthard? Yes, please.
