I'll have my fingers crossed that Edinburgh can show Wolves what a PL can do. I dont know if Edinburgh want promotion and I wont hold my hopes too high, but it would be nice to see Edinburgh score well.

I'm looking forward to seeing just how this one will go. Lots of opinions that no PL side will beat an EL one, but Wolves only beat Birmingham on aggregate by 10 points in the Midlands Shield (or whatever it was) recently. Fair enough the teams were standardised, and Brummies had Watt and Kennett guesting for them in the away leg, but Wolves weren't handicapped by having Monberg in their team then. Guests will be all important for this tie and it'll be interesting to see what team Wolves put out. Still think Wolves will win, but it'll be interesting to see by how much.

Have either team rode at the other's track? I seem to recall people saying at Kings Lynn on Saturday night that Wolves had never ridden at Edinburgh before; have Edinburgh ever ridden at Wolves track? Pardon my ignorance, but I've only been following for the past 2 seasons, my historical knowledge is somewhat limited.

Wolves' website says James Grieves guests for them in place of Risager on Friday.

Wolves' website says James Grieves guests for them in place of Risager on Friday. Oh dear! I'm going for Edinburgh to win this. Probably in the minority, I know. But basing it on how pants the Wolves were on Thursday at the EOES - it was woeful. I know they lost Niels fairly early on, but even with him they wouldn't have beaten us. Now without Niels and Morten is these meetings can't see how they will beat Edinburgh at home. Although Wolves will probably do the business at home, I think the margin will be bigger at the away one, therefore I predict a narrow victory for Edinburgh overall.....

TEAMS FOR THE ELITE PROMOTION PLAYOFF FINAL FIRST LEG AT ARMADALE ON FRIDAY 24th OCTOBER (start time 7.30, doors open 6.30) are: SCOTWASTE MONARCHS: William Lawson, rider replacement for Thomas H Jonasson, Ryan Fisher, Andrew Tully (captain), Matthew Wethers, guest replacement for Derek Sneddon, Aaron Summers. WOLVERHAMPTON PARRYS INTERNATIONAL WOLVES: Frederik Lindgren, David Howe, rider replacement for Niels Kristian Iversen, James Grieves (guest), Jesper B Monberg, Ludvig Lindgren, Nikolai Klindt.
PLAYOFF CHANCES: The Monarchs’ team take on by far their hardest task of the season as they face up to the Wolves on Friday and Monday.
Speedway’s rules certainly do not favour the team from the Premier League, and you could say the playing field is far from level.
With an average conversion factor of 2x between the leagues, Elite clubs start the season building to the equivalent of 77.70 while Premier clubs are restricted to 41.50.
That is why one of the top Premier riders, James Grieves, can come in to replace a second string in the Wolves’ lineup. From: www.edinburghspeedway.comJames' PL average is 8.75. You'd have thought the BSPA would have disallowed the conversion in this instance to stop advantages being gained in this way.

BSPA make a plan to set up this play-off, the public dismisses it has unworkable, the BSPA say it's workable and will run....the BSPA make Wolves stronger by allowing a Premier League heat leader take the role of no.4 against Premier League opposition.
Clap, clap. I'd like Edinburgh to win their home leg but I cannae see it it. In fact, I'd like to see CVS try and worm himself out of relegation. He's a snake of the association.

I seem to recall people saying at Kings Lynn on Saturday night that Wolves had never ridden at Edinburgh before; have Edinburgh ever ridden at Wolves track? Six of the Wolves team for Friday's meeting have ridden at Armadale before so the track should hold no fears for them. Only Ludvig Lindgren hasn't been up here before. Infact a weakened Wolves team beat us in a friendly up here a few seasons ago. William Lawson, Ryan Fisher and Matthew Wethers have ridden at Wolves before. William was of course a reserve for Wolves in the EL for a season. Ryan would have ridden there in his EL days with Coventry and Matthew rode there whilst in the CL. It's still a huge mismatch though and all I hope for is the Monarchs can at least give Wolves a run for their money at Armadale.
