Reading website reports Coventry have brought Kyle Hughes from Reading on a full transfer.
Can't say I'm that bothered, after reading the interview with him in the Star over the close season he came across to me as a kid who has his head stuck firmly up his own arse anyway.
I'd have given him away to Cov if they'd asked nicely. ;D

He don't think he was a big Reading fan, but that's because when Posslethwaite bought the Oxford CL assets (including Kyle)early in 2006, he put Kyle out of a job for the opening part of that season. Allen Trump did rate Kyle as a rider - and now he's bought Kyle. I will try to see Kyle in Plymouth colours a couple of times during 2008.

He made his debut for Mildenhall in 2004 shortly after his 15th birthday. EDIT: And he's some biographical data I wrote on Kyle, which was originally printed in the Oxford programme in October 2007: KYLE HUGHES (Born June 15, 1989, Bath, Avon). Kyle made his CL debut for Mildenhall in June 2004, five days after his 15th birthday, and went on to make 19 appearances for the quadruple-winning Fen Tigers, averaging 3.49. He then had a fabulous season riding for the Oxford Academy in 2005, scoring 166 points from 23 league & cup fixtures, recording an average of 6.71, and often proving a match-winner from the reserve berth. Also, the Chippenham-based youngster was again part of a Conference League winning-side, meaning that, perhaps uniquely, he had won league titles with two different British clubs before reaching his 17th birthday! Following Oxford's withdrawal from the 2006 Conference League, Kyle joined the Boston Barracuda-Braves, but it proved to be a difficult year for him. Rejoined Oxford this season, and after missing most of July with a foot injury, Kyle has really started to hit form in recent weeks. A rider with a very tidy style.

I'd say I'll take your word for it Genghis, but my opinion of him after reading the star interview is that he's a little twat - I know of a Cov fan who thinks the same too. He may have not been a fan of the Posslethwaite era at Reading (not many of us were) but times have moved on and so have the promotion. If he's still holding a grudge against the club then good riddance to him. I believe Mark & Wellie would have had other priorities during the close season than making a call to Hughes no.1 on their list. We only want riders who are committed to the club and not just themselves. Now all we need to do is off load Zagar too. ;D

We only want riders who are committed to the club and not just themselves. Wacks - Kyle did show commitment to Oxford - in fact, he was probably one of the favourites with the Oxford crowd. And despite being only 18 himself, he took 15-year-old Brendan Johnson under his wing last season, and that's always pleasing to see. Had Oxford run this season in the Premier League, I wouldn't have been surprised to see Kyle handed one of the reserve berths. As for the current Reading management, well they wouldn't even allow him a second half there last season after he needed outings after returning from a foot injury, and that's a pretty poor show, considering he was an asset of the club. They never showed Kyle any commitment, so why should he show any back?

Seems to me, us getting rid of Hughes & him siging for Cov is a win, win situation for all parties then!
