Despite losing at Somerset tonight (53:39) the Edinburgh Monarchs progress to the final of the Premier League play-offs on aggregate (96:89). For a while it looked like the Rebels might just be able to haul back the 21-point deficit that they suffered at the Scotwaste Arena, but a 5-1 from Ryan Fisher and Derek Sneddon in Ht 12 seemed to knock the stuffing out of the Rebels and handed the initiative to the Monarchs. But who will they face in the final?

I think the Monarchs would prefer Rye House, even though their results in the league were better against King's Lynn. But that was early in the season when King's Lynn were struggling a little and, crucially, the Monarchs had Thomas H Jonasson at Saddlebow Road. And his score of 9+1 from 5 rides was in large part responsible for their excellent draw. Added to that, William Lawson is still feeling his way back after injury and with Rye House being a similar size to Armadale, it would probably be easier for him. Lawson struggled badly at the Oak Tree Arena tonight and that doesn't bode well for a trip to Norfolk.

This Monarchs team just never knows when it is beaten.
With the amount of bike problems last night that is now evident to us fans then it was even more of a brilliant performance from this fantastic team albeit even if it was only four of them. Ryan and Derek both blew engines, Andrew had clutch problems and William's bike spent most of the night in bits.
Somerset badly missed Kroger and the result had he been riding would probably have seen Somerset through to the final.
So who will our opponents be. Saturday night will reveal all.

Somerset have had their fair share of luck though throughout the season coming up against teams weakened by injury/illness. It's about time the rub of the green went towards their opposition.

Will be making my first trip to the Scotwaste Arena in 2008 for the first leg of the final.
Should be a good meeting with hopefully some good racing

I dont really follow the premier league, so forgive me if i have it wrong, but have Kings Lynn falsely postponed the first leg of the play-offs in order to have the advantage of the deciding leg on their track ?
And have got away with it ?

They've certainly got away with it thus far, tho I hear there has been heavy overnight rain up in Edinburgh today As to whether they falsely postponed the first leg....that's a matter of opinion and has been debated in another place. FWIW there has been no rain in King's Lynn since about 1500 on Wednesday

Edinburgh have three fixtures left to fulfill and just three available dates; this Friday, next Friday and the Friday after.

And have got away with it ? Who knows with the conflicting weather reports we were getting. One thing is certain though that KL wanted the second leg initially but didn't get it. Now they have. I am sceptical Should be a good meeting tonight and hopefully the weather will be kind. I think we will need a lead of at least 20-25 points for tomorrow.

It amazes me that a side finishing lower in the final table gets a home leg anyway, but to secure the vital second leg absolutely blows me away(by speedway standards, not in the real world) In my opinion if Lynn were unable to complete the fixture before the second leg, it should have become a one off. I will be fully behind the Monarchs.
