It appears to be all over bar the shouting, after Poole won by the side of the lake in the first meeting. The Pirates really were terrific at the Arena and thoroughly deserved their win. They went to do a job, they did it, did it well and are now over-whelming favourites to be champions. So, are there any reasons for hope in the hearts of the Essex guys and gals, together with their Kent contingent, led by the footsoldier of the revolution kevh? Well, the Hammers can't be any worse than they were on Monday, when a terrible start meant they were always chasing the meeting. If they can hit the Pirates early, the game could still be on. But it's a mighty ask and I can't see it myself. I can, however, see the Hammers putting up a respectable score by the side of the harbour. In fact, I've a feeling we might see a scoreline similar to the first meeting.

On the grand prix front, the German GP, ludicrously sees Nicki Pedersen as the 3/1 favourite, surely people realize the World Champion never wins the last GP, once Nicki has secured the title for the third time, concentration and commitment will fly out of the proverbial window, and the honours will be there for someone else, possibly Hans or Greg.

Well, that's open to debate, since you claimed that the "world champion never wins the last GP", which makes no reference to the stage at which the world championship was decided. I'd say Jason Crump has been about the most disappointing rider after winning the world title recently, while TR and Nicki P both continued to perform to a high level.

So, are there any reasons for hope in the hearts of the Essex guys and gals, together with their Kent contingent, led by the footsoldier of the revolution kevh? Of course there's reasons for hope.........I'm hoping that our two Poles do what they were signed for and take to the blue groove like ducks to water..............I'm hoping that Jonas displays the same pure grit and determination that he did on Monday, only days after leaving hospital with injuries which would have finished a lesser man............I'm hoping that Ricky can once again be a trump card on an away track.........I'm hoping that Andreas is provided with a track which allows him to race........I'm hoping that Leigh continues his huge improvement this season around Wimborne Road. Poole are a good team (not as good as ours was before the injuries struck) but we must remember Peterborough took the points in Dorset earlier in the year.........anythings possible......it's going to be hard, but it CAN be done!!! And just remember this.........youngstanley promised us a move off the bottom in 2007, a play-off place in 2008 and the Championship in 2009........history says there's no reason to doubt him, and the young fellow has done us proud so far.

I don't think he promised. I think he had a plan for improvement in 2007 (which he achieved) and then a play-off place in 2008 (which, again, he achieved) and a real tilt at the title in 2009.

Technically you are correct.........nobody can promise a league title because of the unknowns, but as you acknowlege he has achieved everything he stated he wanted to, to date........given a fair share of luck in 2009 I'm fairly confident Young Stanley will be able to hold his head up proudly when he delivers. And just in case you are looking in Stanley, on behalf of all Lakeside fans, I'd like to say thanks for giving us something to be proud of!!!

With Andreas Jonsson with-drawing from the Grands Prix this weekend, are Lakeside making arrangements in case his illness continues on to Monday? Or is this a weird case of reverse-GPitis?

With Andreas Jonsson with-drawing from the Grands Prix this weekend, are Lakeside making arrangements in case his illness continues on to Monday? Or is this a weird case of reverse-GPitis? Absolutely.........let's welcome Andreas the Weirdity into the fold. ;D There can be no doubt that Andreas' illness is genuine, given that he's not yet officially qualified for the 2009 GP series, but I'm sure, if he's better on Monday he'll be wearing the red and blue. This season which promised so much down at the side of the lake, has turned pretty sour in the last few weeks.......Shields out, Kylmakorpi out, Davidsson out, Nieminen out, Tomicek out and now possibly Jonsson too. It looks like Young Stanley has upset Lady Luck big time in the last couple of months, but there's always next year.........and we haven't been able to confidently say that in recent times. I would expect the Cook Meister to be in contact with Leigh Adams as I type this, just as a precaution you understand.

Jablonski scored..1,2,3,3,3 = 12 in Russia tonight. Andreas is a loyal rider - he's shown that by sticking with Bydgoszcz when they were relegated, and with his grit and determination on Monday. He wouldn't settle for second best. If he's even half fit, I'm sure he'll be there, and will give his all.
